It takes a lot to make me double take. This did. There is NO ONE IN THE WORLD more obsessed with genitals than a transphobe. These people eat, sleep, and drink their days away thinking about dicks. And it's FUCKING CREEPY.

Public Service Announcement: At 85, Michael Moorcock is still very much alive and writing up a storm(bringer)!

MAGA has a bill that would disenfranchise someone you know. The SAVE Act is the GOP’s attempt at mass voter suppression disguised as an election integrity bill: indivisibleteam.medium.com/maga-has-a-b...

I hate seeing Democrats even joking about annexing Canada. I'm American, and in this moment, even joking about annexing our best neighbor is OFFENSIVE AF. If somebody did that in front of me I'd be "Do not do that. I mean it. I will slap you."

Or, and hear me out, don't use genAI in your lit reviews. My god.

For people who have experience with academia. I'm preparing my reading list for a qualifying exam in feminist and queer theory and have been thinking a lot about how much space to give to radical (read: reactionary) feminisms. On the one hand, it feels really disingenuous to claim I am 1/

I understand that slogans have a purpose and are not inclusive of all ideas, but the call to "read books" as some sort of inherent defense against fascism nags at me. Which books! Reading is not in and of itself a virtue!

People who are against didacticism in art because art is intrinsically worthwhile are correct. But the much simpler, practical rebuttal to moralizing art is: people, a significant amount, probably a big majority, are just not good readers or viewers.

There are many thoughtful responses to the Gilligan comments on my feed today, but this is the truth imo. Not just conservatives—it's endemic. Every day I see people wholly overlay their own personalities onto characters, or describe stories in ways that show they missed basic plot points or themes.

Ohhhh??? What's this...???? 🏳️‍🌈 realstonewall.com/ 🏳️‍🌈

Terrance Hayes bringing the lyric theory and poeticriticism in "Vintage Vanity": "We are the sort of publisher who believes poetry is a reverse personification where you unmask your best self in language. Our motto is 'Make Your Self A Poem.'" poets.org/poem/vintage...

Two things I've noticed as a college professor in increasing numbers: 1) Students who don't ask questions when they should. 2) Students who don't follow the directions for whatever reason. Both of these things immediately impact your potential for success.

When someone says genre is nothing but a marketing tool and/or shelving system for bookstores

People keep talking about the Gulf of Mexico, and yes, that, but goddamn I am going to call it Denali until I die and you should, too.

I've been able to brush off most of the erasure of trans people from government websites, but this one is REALLY getting under my skin. It's just complete revisionist history. How fucking dare they Old vs. new

This is where you go to tell the National Park Service to restore the word "transgender" in its entry on the Stonewall monument. (Scroll down.)

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day

Also, professional organizations need to start rescinding certifications or something. You cannot have a medical license if you are against vaccination. You cannot practice law if you do not believe in rule of law.

[Walt Whitman tries to tell a joke] A priest, rabbi, and minister walk into a bar, sailor-men, merchant-men, walk into a bar, Workmen and Workwomen! into a bar, Blacksmiths with grimed and hairy chests, the carpenter dressing his plank, president and prostitute walk into a b

are you writing dessert books or nutritious books? (—and what about the probiotics, the rare toxins, the microplastics, the mercurial)

Thinking a lot about "Fifteenth Saint" these days, that being my story about the specific experience of watching your country fall apart while nobody around you seems to notice.

My dispatch: "Two weeks into a fast-moving coup by a South African tech oligarch, the USA hangs suspended in a liminal state between the constitutional republic it has been for 249 years & an authoritarian regime akin to Europe’s fallen democracy, Hungary." www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/white-nati...

Some really good news you might have missed in the firehose stream of terrible. This is incredibly significant in the fight against climate change.

AI probably uses em dashes because of all the books and professional level writing contained therein, so people who aren’t skilled writers are like “j’accuse!” — at the very people whose expertise was stolen in the first place

Every single stupid conversation I’ve had with a scientist about anticipatory obedience and historical comparisons over the last week has had me thinking about how scientists’ political incompetence is one of the major arguments for a liberal arts education Like you’re literally a tool without it

every writer in the world—living, dead, whatever—is a huge em dash slut and saying this is a sign that someone doesn't read or write

There are good reasons to not support the NFL and this is not one of them

You can take my favored punctuation—nay, my FAVORITE punctuation—when you pry it from my cold dead human fingers

Calling all artists! Contest alert! And may I humbly suggest, “Decorative” by P.A. Cornell? Read my story: www.radonjournal.com/issue7/decor...

This is super cool! And as a bonus, if anyone who sees this is interested in my poem, it provides a bunch of visual details to hang onto! (If I had any skill at/interest in drawing or painting I would illustrate it myself, honestly, but I very much do not) www.radonjournal.com/issue7/to-as...

This is so extraordinarily sharp & while the able skewering of a person who wrote phenomenally stupid things is very satisfying, the way Chu articulates “the far center” & “reactionary liberal” absolutely knocked the wind out of me. I feel like my soul’s pH has been nourishingly rebalanced.

I was so grateful that Senator Maria Cantwell mentioned my nonprofit on the floor last night as part of her filibuster. It is such a lie that federal funds are corrupted. Or that ordinary Americans don’t need the government. Carrying on lies is exactly why fascists want to destroy education.

I just read OKPsyche (I got my local library to buy it) and it's great! Highly recommended!

HOLT SHIT, THIS IS *INCREDIBLE*. An actual treatment for prions! That's fucking ASTOUNDING. Those things are goddamn TERRIFYING.

This is one of my favorite poems of all time, written by the wonderful & greatly missed John M. Ford. I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently. So I thought I would share it.

Please flood your senators will calls telling them to vote NO on RFK Jr. and do it quick. Republicans especially.

I'm dead shocked the Dem officials aren't screaming this shit from the rooftops. This isn't Trump's money or Musk's money. This is YOUR HARD EARNED TAXPAYER MONEY. This should be a non partisan issue. You got 23 year old kids in control of money YOU'VE been earning since before they were born!
