I think it's the latter. I just don't think they believe there are any checks on anything they want to do, no matter how petty or asinine, and so far that's been a good bet. The number of big law firms that have knuckled under to the extortion hasn't put a damper on them either.

It should be noted, repeatedly, that even if the government had credible evidence that Garcia was a member of MS-13, that in itself is not a crime, and if it was, he, and all the other deportees have a Constitutional right to due process which they have not received. None of this is remotely legal.
