To be fair, I'm relatively sure the Defense Dept used to be called the War Dept. Back in the Civil War era, at least. Don't recall when it was changed, but War Dept hasn't been used in my lifetime. Pretty telling that they're using that terminology, tho. As if it makes the U.S. sound tougher. 🤦♂️
