Today's news sites should have a content warning for graphic video of trump and vance double-teaming putin's balls in the oval office on live television

Today is national economic blackout - don't buy shit that's not small local / indy. No chin groceries, Amazon, nothing that's not critical!

I want to look into it a bit more, but this looks really cool: wavelengths.online/posts/ludoce...

@micromanagement.bsky.social hey! how are you feeling about gamedev in Rust? I've been kicking around trying Rust or Zig maybe so trying to get a temperature check of how people are feeling.

Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.

This is what I loved about Cory Doctorow's "Walkaway" -- it was so hopeful for people and society, with no naiveté about how we get to a better world. It's both true that you can't just "fix the world with love" hippy-style, and also true that you can in fact fix the world with love, structurally.

AI does in fact have some incredible applications... it's just too bad the world is increasingly run by rich dipshits with no technical or other real world skills, who are all obsessed with impressing other rich dipshits and therefore are the most idiot-fad-vulnerable humans on the fucking planet

Am I the only one thinking that Canada would have at least 55 electoral college votes, 2 likely democratic senators, and 50+ congresspeople? Idk that the fascists have really thought this through

The entire archive of all CDC datasets uploaded before January 28th, 2025 has been backed up on Internet Archive. archive.org/details/2025...

Concentration camps preceded extermination camps by several years. They began in Germany just as administratively, just as innocuously, as this. It's important to understand the historical track we are on.

It's been a while since I've seen the response to something a company did be so universally "lol, go fuck yourself" ... but lol, go fuck yourself www.404media.co/openai-furio...

As the United States enters its Soviet era ...

The trend we have of attributing talent and intelligence to billionaires is dangerous and wrong - - and @seamas.bsky.social makes that point a thousand times more eloquently than I ever could. A very satisfying read.

Turning a beautiful alien world into a massive concrete (satis)factory -- although given the current capitalist climate, this is more likely to get me elected than arrested

It is impossible for someone with moral courage to become a billionaire (possible exception for Mackenzie Scott, everybody gets into a relationship with an asshole at least once in their lives). Stop expecting the craven, grasping techbros at the top of these companies to ever have a spine.

the number of times i've had to ask devs if they were trying to reinvent the wheel or rediscover fire is crazy the instinct to spend 6 months rewriting something for marginal gains while the rest of the team can't touch any content connected to it is generally Very Bad

Lol

This plugin has a lot of moving parts, so give yourself some time to go through and config it how you like it. But I especially like the "scratch" feature and the lazygit integration (more on that one later): https://github.com/folke/snacks.nvim

This was the most useful video I found for setting up Neovim from scratch (though pro-tip, Lazy is now preferred over Packer for plugin management). While from scratch is harder, doing so taught me much more granularly how Neovim works, and I'm glad I took this approach. https://buff.ly/3DDp4cF
