Thank you Senator Booker! Standing up for the country and the rule of law is “good trouble.”

It doesn’t help if you are giving a stamp of approval by not blocking the partisan Republican CR bill. You are not applying enough pressure to force Republicans to support a clean CR bill.

Senator Whitehouse, reading your post explains the Catch 22 that Democrats faced. But many of us feel that we actually have to fight back especially since House Democrats voted against the partisan Republican CR bill. How are Democrats actually going to push back if the CR bill goes through?
comment in response to post
But by doing so you are giving Musk and Trump even more leeway to wreck havoc. Vote No and push for an actual clean CR.

It’s a bad move to support the partisan Republican CR bill. Why should we appease Trump or Elon when they are dead set on destroying government anyway? I would vote No if I were in your shoes. Force Republicans to actually engage in good faith negotiations.

Opposing the partisan Republican CR bill is worth doing. Yes, a government shutdown will be terrible. But Senate Democrats should not be capitulating here. If Republicans want Democratic votes they should actually earn them in good faith negotiations.

You can stand up for the American people by voting no on the CR bill. Throwing away what leverage you have to force actual good faith negotiations is absurd.
comment in response to post
In what way is it beneficial to throw your keys/leverage away? Stop trying to appease people who do not give a damm about breaking the rule book to destroy the government anyway.
comment in response to post
Which they are already doing. Grow a spine and push back. Vote NO on cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.
