Why go? The current administration has gutted science funding, hijacked rhetoric on healthcare, ripped down data sets and information, harmed access, and so much more. Attend, get connected, and stand up for science.

I oversaw global health programs at @USAID.
They reached 100s of millions of people, added 6 extra years to the lifespan of children in partner countries, and were eradicating health threats worldwide.
What insanity and cruelty to break that.

Did you see this experiment my colleague Kristina conducted not just at my university but *in my department*? She and the male instructor assumed eachothers’ names for an online course: and the difference in feedback they received was horrifying.

This all reminds me of parts of Naomi Klein’s Doppelgänger — folks are trained to become brands, pressurized into crafting a brand.
But people, as you wrote, need flexibility to change. Klein cites bell hooks — who pushed for advocating for a cause rather than being the cause. Actions VS Branding.
