I've got 2 answers for this. Newest game I've *played* on my top 10 is Chrono Trigger. Just played it last year and I can see why folks consider it the GOAT. It has the full package. Newest game to come out on my top 10 is Horizon Forbidden West. Gorgeous graphics, fun story, and good mechanics.

I think FFXIII is in this category. It is a bit of a hallway in terms of progression, and some characters are annoying af for a lot of the time (Hope), but the game is GORGEOUS even by today's standards, has a fabulous soundtrack, and a rewarding battle system that is both tactical and strategic.
