Oh, wow, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you! 💚

This blows my mind. I'm not an expert on these matters, but this looks phenomenal to me. Every copy I've owned of this film has been of questionable quality. Even the Criterion laserdisc back in the day, I always thought it could look better. But those screenshots look amazing!

So wanting people to acknowledge Mamdani's merits is somehow "taking offense"? Ok, then!

And I see Zohran Mamdani being called a communist because of things like this. Tenants should be protected from abusive practices, and abusive landlords should get fucked.

I only increase the rent once a year (upon renewal of the lease), and the increase is determined by the New York City Rent Guidelines Board. Last year was just under 3%, I think. I've had my current tenant for almost five years now. It's easier this way, for everyone involved.

He's a fucking troll.

I'm a bit ashamed to say that I have that Hong Kong Rescue disc, but this looks so much better than that. I wonder what the Shout! Factory disc will look like.

You're saying Frankie doesn't know what a blu-ray rip is? You really are an absolute fucking idiot. You stupid fucking cunt.

My copy is on the way, and I can't wait! I've wanted these extended cuts on HD for years, but I never expected them to be released in 4K one day. I just hope WB doesn't do the same thing they did with BLADE a few years ago, because I'm still waiting for BLADE II in 4K after five years.

Cry more, you fucking cunt.

And speaking of THE GOONIES, you can't imagine how much I relate to Chunk in this scene. Just swap the pizza and the milkshake for a steak and a glass of wine... and I think that could be me.

It was probably intentional. The man loved his own movie. This scene from THE GOONIES, with the logo and the theme, are another little moment that always make me go, "Oh, right! It's Richard Donner." Good for him!

Every time I'm like, "these remind me of the credits from SUPERMAN"-- and then I remember that one is also a Richard Donner movie.

Hahaha, but you're right!

Yes! Mine's "shipping soon". My card has already been charged but it hasn't been shipped yet. I can't wait!

Yes! This looks amazing! 🤩

I'm not even sure why I'm sharing this, sometimes I just like to tell this story. My life has been quite a journey, and sometimes that makes me feel way older than I am. I guess tonight is one of those nights. I'm going to get more wine.

Because my father was very violent, my aunt (my mother's sister) adopted me and took me to live with her in İstanbul in the very early 90s, which change the direction of my life. And it was also the best thing that could have happened to me.

No, I don't mind talking about it because he's dead. Fuck him. But I did grow up in South Africa, and I learned English there, and Afrikaans shaped my accent in English, which puzzles people here in Québec because they often assume I'm Australian or Irish.

But then, a few months later, we moved to Pretoria, in South Africa. My mother was Turkish, my father was Chechen of Ghalghai origin, and he was a mafia boss, a very violent man. But he was able to make a lot of money in South Africa because Chechen mafia was strong there in the 1980s.

Those of you who have known me for a long time already know my history, but those of you who haven't... I'm Turkish, but my parents moved out of Turkey due to the political instability in the 1970s. They lived in Mozambique for a while, which is where I was born, in 1979.

Poppycock! You must choose! 😜

I'm telling you, those damn screens are worth every penny! They're glorious! Even DVDs look great.

Oh, one thing I hate about making lists is that I'll always remember another favorite that I should have included *after* I submitted my list. It's horrible! 😅

100? From the past 25 years? That's, what, four movies per year? Yeah, I think I can do that! I'll be right back. 😉

Oh, and you being from Down Under probably knew it as MAD MAX 2 as well. I'm Turkish but I spent my childhood in South Africa (not sure if I told you that before) but in South Africa, it was also known as MAD MAX 2.
comment in response to post
Yes! Yeah, I wonder why that happened, maybe the original MAD MAX wasn't very well-known in the US?

Haha, me, too. They keep showing up on my IG feed.

Now that you mention it...

Yes, of course. Ignoring reality is living in denial and that's also not healthy. But living in constant fear and anger will only hurt you.

You especially! I worry about you sometimes.
