Growing up in Las Vegas in the 70s and 80s, we only had 5 TV stations until the late 80s. The indie station, KVVU, was my fave and this jingle has stayed in my head for 40+ years. Amazingly, a clean copy of it was on YouTube when I looked. So much great TV in 60 seconds. youtu.be/laR0peHkw14?...

Your first retro video of the evening comes from 1987, when former street gang member and rising freestyle star Noel went on Club MTV for the world premiere of the video for his soon-to-be classic track SILENT MORNING. His entrance is so very 1987. youtu.be/8dqBucTZcuw?...

Thanks to @maxthegirl.bsky.social and @95sports.bsky.social, I searched for (and found) this Jimmy Fallon parody of American Idol's Seacrest and Dunkelman from the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. It's EXTREMELY 2002, right down to the name checks of ALL the reality shows. youtu.be/fANfxkVMBVY?...

So the President of the United States threatened the governor of Maine, in public, acting like the monarch he thinks he is. The story is nowhere to be found on the homepage of the WaPo or WSJ; the NYT has a small story buried deep down with a headline that makes it look the governor picked on POTUS.

"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver unleashes searing, satirical takes on the politics and problems of America, his adopted homeland. This Sunday, 60 Minutes explores how a Brit became one of the country's sharpest comedians.

Vivek Ramaswamy is the Brian Dunkleman of DOGE.

very Chicago-centric with the Oprah mention on his shirt

Update: Per @latenightercom.bsky.social (which very kindly references the post below), this weekend's rerun of the very first SNL--airing in the show's usual 11:3 slot-- drew 3.7M viewers. That's better than reruns of many more recent SNL eps. latenighter.com/news/saturda...

"Now I’m like: ‘Dang, why didn’t I just pick Kamala?’"

Watching my breakfast episode of 25 Words or Less, and the very smart couple in their late 20s had no idea who Walter Cronkite was. Not surprising, I guess. Still sad, because he’s a cultural figure who should be remembered—especially in this moment.

All about the design choices that went into those #Severance cars

Today, we are all Canadians.

I remember when the national media came in force to town hall meetings just so they could focus on a single person to complain about the ACA. Here you have a entire room of people fed up and only local (Atlanta) media present. At the least -- where is CNN?

Stacy's mom's medicare is gone

Today in 1986, the great Florence Halop (“Night Court,” “St. Elsewhere”) calmly helped Wendy M. of Southern California win $25k on Super Password. Sadly, Florence would pass away 5 months later at the age of 63.

This isn't new news? Musk killed the bill at the end of the last Congress that had the Telehealth extenders past March 31, 2025 (and PBM reform)

With Kash Patel leading it, the FBI could use a punchy new nickname. I vote for MAGAstapo.

the fact that some "reporters" in that room laughed at the reference to the 51st state is so depressing.

It's called FASHION, Lamont! Stream Sanford and Son free on Pluto TV!

So after not really getting into CNN's remake of HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU, I watched the S2 premiere last weekend (with Andy Richter and George Conway) and actually kind of loved it? But today I see they've invited this MAGA Republican on, and...yeah, no. www.nydailynews.com/2025/02/19/r...

Apparently today is Renew and Greenlight All the Shows Day? Sending love to my pals at the trades dealing with this onslaught....
