Certain objects or environmental elements are triggered by the overall light value. Often requiring the player to alter the illumination to solve problems. In this case an array of platforms moving in random configurations when the space is lit and static when dark. #indiedev #gamedev #UE5 8/n

With light triggered hazards on the horizon I wanted to test a means of giving a small pocket of visibility for precarious spaces. So when low light is a must and safe ground is in short supply, strap some small lights to your tracks and drive very cautiously. #indiedev #gamedev #UE5 7/n

Happy to help and always happy to chat... As for my work, that might be something you need to come back to with fresh eyes, haha. But I appreciate the generous compliment nonetheless. xD

Glad to hear it's part of your process. :D Too often people get hung up on trying to make ideas fit or trying to brute force inspiration. But that's like trying to catch a cloud. xD

I think one of the oldest pieces of advice is still the best, if you can, walk away from it. Spend a little time doing other things and then come back to it fresh. Especially if you have an array of stuff to choose from. That first look often has a considerable amount of merit when choosing designs.

2 is the one that drew my eye first, the details give it a more visually appealing structure that made my eyes travel more naturally. If that helps at all. :D

For when light isn't an option, there's always radar, or however I'll thematically justify its functionality. Tbh, I'm slightly surprised that this sort of worked out how I was planning it before falling asleep. Shaders and Post Processing are still new ground for me. #indiedev #gamedev #UE5 6/n

Too often the intrusive design thoughts of "Hey, wouldn't this be a cool idea?" win. Fortunately a forklift attachment was only a minor one. So it took no time at all... Though what I'm going to do with it remains to be seen, haha. #indiedev #gamedev #UE5 5/n
