ProPublica has released another study related to the effects of abortion bans in the U.S., this time showing a spike in sepsis cases in Texas following the implementation of that state's "heartbeat" abortion ban in 2021.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

Mark my words—He is going to try to shut down mail-in voting. When he does, we will sue and we will win. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Holy shit! You’ve got to see this town hall. Republicans are starting to get torn apart by their own constituents. Rep. Rich McCormick: “You don’t think I’m going to stand up for you?” Woman in the crowd: “You need to stand up.” Another woman: “Don’t bend over.” 🔥

Republicans are coming after your healthcare. AGAIN! Trump & the GOP are endangering the lives of those you love. They plan to make drastic cuts to medicaid, just so they can give their billionaire friends a tax break. How messed up is that! #DontCutMyMedicaid

Watch: @maddow.msnbc.com explains that the public opinion is against the felon in the White House. He is historically unpopular. He is the least popular president in the history of modern polling during this point of his presidency. People don't like his policies & the people in his administration.

A whooping 83% of Americans oppose Trump pardoning violent J6 rioters. EIGHTY-THREE PERCENT!!!

You can try to legislate us out of existence, but we are still here. You can strip away our rights, but you will never take our dignity. You can spread your hatred, but you will never break our resolve. BUT HEAR THIS LOUD AND CLEAR MOTHERFUCKERS: WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY!!!

A rogue DOJ… Pardons for Jan6 treasonous acts were inexcusable. Broaden the scope to include drugs, guns…and child porn manufacturing/possession of child porn? Abuse of judicial power. www.npr.org/2025/02/20/n... Criminals supported by bigger criminals. This is our country. #SheShed

PM Trudeau just slammed Trump

Most people probably aren’t tracking this but Senate Republicans just started an all-night voting marathon that will allow them to gut Medicaid and increase child hunger while giving handouts to billionaires like Elon Musk.

Sorry to be nerdy, but it’s really important right now to understand one thing. All R’s are trying to do is give Elon his massive tax cut under reconciliation- 50 votes in the Senate, no filibuster. But RECONCILIATION REQUIRES PAY-FOR OFFSETS! Hence all the cuts. Get it?

Lawyers at Twitter are reportedly threatening advertisers to spend more money on the platform “or else” Elon Musk will use his connections with Trump to hurt their companies.

The dildo of consequence rarely arrives lubed.

New in PN: AOC shows how to fight back and stand strong "Prominent figures standing up can undermine the climate of fear that MAGA relies on to impose terror. AOC’s work on behalf of her constituents and refusal to be intimidated are models of resistance other Democrats would do well to imitate."

The Eric Adams criminal case raises significant concerns about the independence of the Justice Department and the role of political influence in prosecutions. 💡 The key question: Was there an improper quid pro quo—and if so, will the Court do anything about it?

A little substance about what the FBI does & historical context to help you articulate just how dangerous the confirmation of Kash Patel is. joycevance.substack.com/p/kash-patel...

Remember when America had friends? Like a month ago?

As of yesterday, there were 58 reported cases of measles in Texas. 13 of which were hospitalized. Tens of thousands of dollars racked up in medical bills. (40k?) A one night stay at hospital in TX averages about $3,000 One MMR vaccine in TX averages $100 without insurance with a private doctor.

Jasmine Crockett is shredding this solo. But it’s past time for the rhythm section to enter this song already.

'This is a dictator': New York Post shames Trump for parroting Putin talking points: The Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post had some sharp words for President Donald Trump over his recent false claims about the Russia-Ukraine war. Days after Trump labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a…

@jenpsaki.msnbc.com: "Inspectors general are a headache for everyone. You know why? Because they're investigating every agency and they find stuff! Including waste and fraud and abuse! They wouldn't be firing them if they cared about waste, fraud, and abuse."

— Accidentally fired workers trying to contain bird flu — Accidentally fired workers overseeing our nuclear stockpile — Accidentally fired workers providing health care to Native Americans “Accidentally.” More like gross incompetence and mismanagement. Opposite of efficient.

“If FBI agents who are just doing their jobs aren’t free of the risk of political prosecution, then who is? In a country run by a president who has accumulated all power into his own hands, you never know who might run afoul of the leader’s good graces.” joycevance.substack.com/p/kash-patel...

This is like opposing a joint resolution declaring that the Sun sets in the West America doesn’t just look like an idiot here, we look like goddamn Flat Earthers

Never forget.

We are now finding bird flu in deer mice and house mice in Washington State. H5N1 is advancing along the evolutionary ladder—affecting birds, mammals, and humans. This is not speculation; it’s a timeline.

Three updates: 1. The Justice Department has deleted a database tracking federal police misconduct. The database was first proposed in 2020 following the police killing of George Floyd.

When the wreckage and dust of what these people are doing to our country has settled and the people have finally had enough to throw these jackals out of office, we will never forget the people who enabled it, despite their protestations they weren’t willing accomplices. Never.

Kash Patel’s confirmation to head the FBI is quite a contrast to what happened with Richard Nixon’s first pick, L. Patrick Gray, who Congress rejected for being to partisan & too close to the president—the same characteristics Patel possesses. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Happening now: protesters are outside the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago this evening. People are in line to see House of Reps Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for an event tonight promoting his recently released book. Crowd chanting at them, "we don't need a book tour!"

Good morning from @altyellonatpark.org

Carville: USAID spent $41 billion the federal budget is 6 trillion. Actually comes to something like .014%. So take that and put it against the 6 trillion and see what you have done when your president is responsible for more federal debt than any president in the history of the United States.

Reminder: Zelenskyy refused to leave Kyiv as bombs fell. Donold hid in a bunker from protesters with cardboard signs.

Connolly: "The fallacy of Musk's argument is they never look at revenue. They only look at expenditures. If you want to save social security, it's a fairly easy fix. Raise income threshold subject to withholding tax & you can extend social security by 40 to 50yrs. He doesn't want to talk about that"
