No, actually … summer between 4th and 5 Th grade. My mom would drop me off at the library while she worked. One day, she had to come give her permission for me to go into the “adults” section: I’d read through the kids’. The first two books I walked out of the stacks with: Roots & The Godfather.

I wish I had a clear, feasible answer. What I have instead are the stories in my head of the Red Scare and ruined lives my grandmother told me. Is that where we’re headed? Except it will be a liberal roundup?
