Ha, I'm a PITA, but having me pushing boundaries is valuable. Value is found at the edges. I enjoy LLMs a lot specifically *bc* "they" hallucinate (apophenia being my jam), though I am fiercely skeptical of corpfluence. I think AI should be a public good: Free (as in beer and abolitionism) the LLMs!

For the love of god, do not run anything MCP outside of you reviewing and approving each request. Do NOT automate these prompts between MCP without explicit approval. And be extremely wary that it's actually doing what it says it's doing. In fact, you probably just shouldn't use MCP at all. 🎰

For the difficulty to make:delicious ratio, okonomiyaki rivals pizza as the best dish ever. 美味しいですね

One thing that moving fast and focus on UI over UX will give you is fading historical context of your own design language. Ex: adding properties in Notion. Early Notion: type a Name and then type a Type 1st redesign: type Type, then Name 2nd redesign: type Name, click icon, type Type (extra step)

Looking forward to this workshop with CAiT and many incredible workers fighting AI, including folks from the Data Labelers' Association, National Nurses United, and the News Guild.

Digging the new cleaned-up Notion database design. You can now hide the icons, the tabs are unified with Builder mode tabs design, and settings menus have been reworked.

Now that my arms are fully tattooed I was all "it's gonna be hard to find a vein!" while doing bloodwork and the phlebotomist was like "tap tap, here's a good one, *poke*", so nah, not really. 😂

There's the Twitter and LinkedIn AI discourse (zealotry), the Bsky AI discourse (leans skeptical), and then there's the discourse on Reddit, which is positively cursed. And probably the most accurate on how people actually feel outside of us tech business idiots. This on an ad for AI vocals...

let's make a kpop rat dance type beat #playbleton 🐀🕺

Promethean fire is actually the perfect myth for AI. Prometheus didn't develop the devine; he stole it. The better mythology for developing critical cognition may be the similarly-named Protean mythology. Proteus, a shapeshifter, develops fluid, adaptive responses to context. Also my latest track ✌️

The hard question being "what am I, exactly?" Is there a distinct me in here? Sure seems like it! But then you look for that place and you end up finding a line of bene gesserit witches looking back at you.

My primary complaint with BlueSky at the moment is the video upload quality is still really poor. Audio sounds really bad, so it's not fun to share video here at the moment. Have to upload to unlisted Youtube or something.

You'll be blessed, indeed, but no one will see you as a god. You'll be seen like any class of religious outlier that eschews technology. You'll probably live outside society. And I will be incredibly jealous and haunt you from whatever sleeve my cortical stack is downloaded into. Ugh, let me die!

Training AI systems on the same dopamine-driven feedback loops that already capture attention, then asking them to help us think. Designing systems that excel at the cognitive patterns that make us vulnerable to manipulation, then position them as thinking partners. TL;DR: self-radicalization.

A lot of folks that were "AI skeptics" are starting to come around after seeing examples of "agentic" AI in the last month. What’s interesting is how we are all—zealots and skeptics alike—evaluating it based on the question: *Is it good?* But what does “good” mean? For what/whose definition?

This week @meighanotoole.com asked Notion to stop adding " (1)", " (2)" to duplicated pages. It can be helpful to make it obvious to users that pages are distinct by adding numerical counters like this, so I don't think removing them is the right call. But it got me curious: how might we do both?

A DOGEr with no government or contracting experience used an LLM to identify contracts for cancelation — or “munching,” in his terms — at the VA. It did not go well. We have the scoop: www.propublica.org/article/trum...

One of my firefighters asked me why I hadn't applied for the new full-time Deputy Chief position that is open rn and, I have to admit, it's been banging around my skull all week. Firefighting or a mindless disassociated computer-brain future. Hmmm. 🤔

My new program is 90% written with a few videos. Many people prefer video lessons, but unfortunately for them, I don't. By the time I'm done I assume you'll be able to drop it in AI and say "make me a video lesson version of this taught by a chimp that kinda looks like typeoneerror" so 🤷‍♂️
