Heard the start of a news headline saying "Wes Streeting has been forced to deny-" and my brain went "burning down a pet shop" but alas, this time he was forced to deny making the NHS Chief Exec resign. Anyway, I said this to Si who hadn't heard about it so now I look mad.

“Now we know Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting have decided to be transphobic, and Iain Murray is supporting them in that, we would not support anything that helps trans people.” - Scottish Labour

Surely this should be Heart Shaped Potato? Potato that looks like hearts. Not hearts that look like potatoes.

I'm Great British Menu posting again but I really do think if one dish at the banquet comes out to music, every dish should come out to music. Otherwise it's just weird.

I've eaten at some fine restaurants in Scotland, and yet still I am surprised by how much celeriac is used in one of these veggie starters in Great British Menu. Why always so much celeriac? Why are the food groups meat and celeriac?

Inspired by Great British Menu, we're talking about the very specific local things we learnt about at school that people elsewhere didn't. For me, it was writer, composer and abolitionist Ignacious Sancho. For Si, it was the Spinning Jenny. What hyperlocal things did other people learn about?

Please just stop. The internet has meant more people previously ignored for diagnosis, due to lack of recognition for even basic traits, have been able to find a community and recognise those traits. That's a good thing. It isn't "over-diagnosis". It's catching up after decades of "under-diagnosis".

If I were on the Great British Menu and they were asking me questions about my food I would just panic and apologise, even if it all seemed perfect to me. "And are you happy with the soup?" "Sorry, no, sorry."

on a long enough tl, which is never very long at all, transmisogynist cis men always reveal that they don’t care about cis women either.

Just emailed a journalist about a work thing and use the phrase "unfortunately, I grew up in England." It is unfortunate to grow up in England.

One of these days, it may not be now, or ever, I'm going to get something done, even if it's not now, or ever

Someone hacked the payment system in Tbilisi public transport, and it’s playing protest chants and speeches. This is, by far, my favorite form of the #GeorgiaProtests.

Over a decade ago I saw someone posting "button down the hatches" and I still think about it whenever it is very windy.

When you can’t make yourself admit the centre is right wing lmao

Sincerely hope that these people aren't planning to use this big ladder today. They'll fly away.

I want the 100mph winds to just happen now so that I can cancel Rainbows tonight. Maybe it's a sign that it's time to stop volunteering for a thing when you're wishing for rare weather events to get you out of it.

Yesterday I was wearing grey leggings and a long sleeved grey top. Today I'm wearing a cream dress-length jumper. S has just told me that today I look like I've moved up the ranks and look like the leader of the cult I was just a member of yesterday.

Oh what a tangled web we weave When first we pretend to come from Neath

You can hear the nuclear explosion behind those eyes. #TheTraitors #Traitors

Is it flight? #TheTraitors

i was told things would be better by now

Kids should be allowed to hang around in public unsupervised and in an unstructured way. They shouldn't have to have phones not because it rots their brains, but teenagers especially should have a way to sneek about without their parents keeping tabs on them.

Every time I've advised orgs on inclusion, especially on LGBTQ+ inclusion, I've said they need a detailed plan for how to respond when the attacks come. DO NOT put your LGBTQ staff into the public eye if you are not ready to stand with them and don't have a plan to support them. This isn't a game.

This description of eggs in Headshot is somehow the thing I find grossest in a book about teenaged girls participating in the bloodsport that is boxing.

Anna's reaction to Lisa revealing she's a vicar: #thetraitors

Can’t believe they were all wrong about Kas when they had all the solid evidence about him being nice and a doctor and doing that nice toast that time #traitors

Fozia joining the traitors and immediately using the roundtable to tell people off for being unkind to Kas is this show at its best.

Please come to this seminar series I'm co-hosting. Useful for authors looking to introduce experimentation into their scholarly work or anyone interested in experimental book publishing.
