I think it’s more my dad’s fault actually! We used to be taken to it, but whilst the restoration was still going on, so it was an empty shell of a ship and was SO boring. It was also a spectacularly boring school trip.

We did kind of have it in reverse though, with a missing topic - when we did “invaders” in primary school, we did loads on the Romans (lots of stuff to see locally) and quite a bit on the Saxons - we did virtually nothing on the Vikings because they didn’t make it that far south west

Lacemaking! And stocking frame knitting. Did you know that you can tell which houses in the Notts knitting villages used to belong to the knitters by the windows at the attic level???? (Lots more and larger than you'd expect from artisan dwellings, for the light, since you asked.)

When I started to explain who he was, I said "look, if you grew up in Greenwich..." I'm glad he has a cafe named after him now. That'll be nice to kids visit on school trips.
