Plus you can’t get arrested for no licence or being uninsured if you’re riding an actual e-bike (EAPC), as there’s no legal requirement for either. Elementary details that seem to have escaped the BBC. Or is this not in fact misinformation (through negligence), it’s actually disinformation?

I bet he’s now demotivated so much that his gait is more sluggish and it takes him about 10 seconds longer per crossing!

Same mistakes repeated time and time again A wasted investment as poor infrastructure doesn’t get used to the annoyance of all road users We need to install world class infrastructure without compromise and at least to the standards laid out in Cycle Design Manual

If road safety took an aviation approach to learning and continuous improvement would we have so many dangerous drivers or so many poorly designed vehicles on sub optimally designed roads?

Yet when we do give 1m we’re told we’re cycling inconsiderately…

Repeating mistakes already made is inexcusable and a waste of the investment Who signs this stuff off? Who holds them accountable? @donnacooney1.bsky.social

It was abundantly clear from the design drawings to anyone who cycles that it was too narrow. The problems with urban planning are systemic.

There’s a manual with minimum standards. It even says these shouldn’t be compromised on. And compromised they were and continue to be with every scheme. Liffey Valley Bus Connects springs to mind…

@garda.ie don’t want to enforce so-called minor offences Leading to folks thinking they can do what they like No enforcement = no detterence When Gardai tell you it’s dangerous out there and fail to do anything about it we have a significant problem

More proof - if it were needed - that the route was built sub optimally. It’s already too narrow. When is @dubcitycouncil.bsky.social adding a lane?

Sounds like a BSO - Bicycle Shaped Object / Electric Motorbike and not an e-bike. Maybe @irishcycle.com dan ask the Garda Press office for clarification?

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time is asked to “surrender the original recording device until conclusion of any court proceedings”

@garda.ie don’t like enforcing what they deem ‘minor’ crime

Oisín - it has been reported many times. It seems to me that road authorities are unwilling to maintain cycling infrastructure to a safe & proper standard. Cllrs need to keep the executive on its toes.

Are they the birds that have been setting off speed cameras in Italy? 🇮🇹

Liffey valley not without its challenges given the roll back away from the approved plans..?

According to @garda.ie at Pearse Street, Dublin - you have an agenda if you report crime for them to investigate Perhaps if they enforced the law there would be less crime to report??

To be clear I fully support the Geese. What I fail to understand is the council knowingly failing to meet its obligations and putting vulnerable road users in harms way. Like you say it’s a pity humans seemingly have less protection in law!

Damn Brent Geese

Now do roads! The crossing and clearance interval is longer than pedestrian crossings across town on wide roads. What education is being done for users of this novel hybrid crossing - seems confusion may make results difficult to interpret?

And they probably know that and act accordingly?
