like yes, queer YA content isn't porn, and should not be categorized as such. but the answer isn't to fall to our knees and beg "spare us from the fire and let the other guy burn, we're good, not like him." it's to join hands, kick the arsonist in the nuts, and put the fire out together

I’ve seen this series a lot in the comic shop basement and wondered if it’s worth checking out.
Those early Image titles that aren’t in The Early Image Style fascinate me. (I also often wonder about Shaman’s Tears, though that one I fear may not have aged well? Idk.)

Pretty sure I owned 2 different Michael Turner Supergirl shirts (& 2 different Darwyn Cooke ones) before I actually owned any of her comics?
So much of my affection for her is *vibes* more than story. And in spite of Turner’s figure & style choices that fit her poorly, he had a huge role in that. 💖

I was flipping through the Supergirl story Turner did with Loeb, and like. It’s NOT good comics. It just isn’t!
But, I landed on his way of drawing Kara’s face and hair (with those pretty Steigerwald colors) at such a formative time, and it’s still imprinted into my brain.

With how adversarial the marketing approach of the Spider-office has been in recent years, I’m not yet buying that Gwen’s truly returning.
But, if she does. I hope she’s as messy & mean as she was under Ditko and calls people out for making her an idealized martyred saint, instead of real person.
