Someone needs to tell Trump that taxes need to be certain www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/03... One of Adam Smith's tenets of taxation was they need to be certain. Trump's use of tax as a weapon is destroying that certainty in the case of US tariffs. The US economy will suffer badly as a result.

Just found out that, before the Civil War, it was more common to refer to the U.S. as a plural, "The United States are..." but gradually, after the Civil War, we switched to referring to the U.S. in the singular, which is kinda grammatically incorrect, but better reflects the political reality.
