Jesus the Jew is the embodiment of Christian lifestyle and behavior. If a Christian isn't at least going to *try* to act like Jesus / follow what he preached, then there's no point to the christian religion.

This is a fair point, it would be accurate to call them "lovers of money" rather than "rich".

Make no mistake, this isn't Christian living. This is idolatry. Perhaps we should cease listening to rich "Pastors" who get invited to hang out with other rich people. Like how #Jesus didn't hang out with Pharisees. Embrace Jesus and his Kingdom. Not this shallow substitute that is America.

Let's take God and some "principles" and force them on others. Let's start to lobby for things like banning gay marriage, but do nothing about divorce (because we don't talk about divorce! Shh!). Let's celebrate the dollar and deregulation. Let's pollute the air, because oil.

Instead, we find the opposite. The Empire has been embraced, the Flag is the #Idol. Let's take "God" and shove him into the American System.

Christians of today should be proclaiming the coming Kingdom and living like it's citizens... meek. Humble. Minding their own business. Caring for the poor. Not chasing money. Not judging others. How Jesus lived his life and preached.

Let's make no mistake, Jesus and Paul were heavily involved in politics in their day, hence how their lives ended. But the politics they were involved in was the proclamation of a new kingdom, God's kingdom; they were participating in the existing system.

It's not sexy and doesn't make people a lot of money, but when a Christian's purpose is to stand for the poor, well, what better way to stand for the future generations than to put aside selfish pursuits / idolatry and build monuments of fresh air? #christian #ecology #plantatree #revelations

Miyawaki forests get you an old growth forest in a matter of a decade, instead of a century. Imagine, if instead of building warehouses to feed our worship of materialism, we put our hearts into rewilding barren lands. tinyurl.com/pkyfmyzm

Alas, it's only a problem for that country's citizens if no one is willing to enforce it.

Should the Church be involved in enabling the rich to be richer, as it's counterintuitive to it's mission of supporting the poor and downtrodden? Would Jesus be cool with this? Or does it not matter at all, as long as we get to sing popular songs on a Sunday morning? #wwjd

The article is older, but still relevant. I'd be curious to know how many churches DON'T utilize CCLI? How many write their own music or perhaps don't even utilize music but instead explore other areas of worship?
