This is Dylan. Finally got around to watching Severance.

I mean, as long as we aren't letting Drake do youth ministry...

It also seems like the question has shifted from "is this profitable" to "are we maximizing profitability," so you can't even have a company that is winning over humanity, you have to have one that is dominating humanity.

... jumping on starter packs and generally just trying to establish what their feed is going to look like. There's also the horrors... and it's always tough to predict how those are going to affect things.

It's probably an entirely Apple's and oranges comparison, but I've taken the lack of new followers as both Bluesky cleaning up a bot problem and people being less annoying about follower fishing. I think it's also been a little more stable where there are fewer big influxes where people are...

I had kind of the opposite experience. I liked them early on, then kind of lost track until I started noticing that every mention of them was essentially, "damn this band was good, it sucks that (cryptic statement)."

39. Walking Practice by Dolki Min What a bizarre little book.

I was led to believe that conservatives would be really into this. What am I missing?

It is possible for many terrible things to be crucially important at the same time without any of them being distractions. That is probably a big reason why my brain doesn't work anymore.

It's funny how Congressional Democrats can both think the thing they are involved in is the most and only important thing... and also go out of their way to divest themselves of the ability to do important things and swear up and down that important things are completely impossible to accomplish.

I haven't really listened to them with any regularity for a long time, so there's a really good chance they wouldn't hold up. Not a hill I would die on, it just always hits weird when the general narrative is that they've only had one good album.

I like Live more than the average person, and even genuinely like some of their other albums, but they do have some songs that make you question if they actually know how to write a song.

They were always a band I gave little thought to until I saw them live, but they're pretty fantastic in concert.

I've seen them a few times and they have generally been really good, but they were actually awful that time. They were opening (along with one other notable band I can't remember) for Counting Crows, who were loads better.

I was about to tell you that I saw Live recently, but then I realized it was 17 years ago and I dropped dead.

This is the kind of thing that might be interesting to hear someone say at an in person town hall...

Isn't there a circle of hell you should be returning to? Yikes.

I just had the realization that, not having produced much in the way of art recently, I'm kind of wasting my last excuse for sticking around. We'll see what happens next time the urge to blow everything up hits.

Just as a thin slice, I've noticed that a handful of former mutuals who are still there that don't post here, kind of rarely post there either. It seems like they may have just mostly given up on social media in general... which I was pretty close to doing as well.

I have a burner account there where I don't really follow anyone, just so that I can occasionally access things, so I usually only see specifically what I went to the site to see... I accidentally clicked on the home button the other day and scrolled and it's just mindblowingly toxic.

38. The Bird King by G. Willow Wilson I'm a little up in the air about the last section of the book, but on the whole it was pretty fantastic.

There was a time when Grammarly wasn't terrible, right? I didn't completely imagine that?

It came well after it was getting any attention online as well, so it was definitely an "I impacted someone with my stupid little drawings" kind of moment.

It maybe doesn't fully count because "my" character was just a mashup of two existing characters, but one of the coolest things that came out of it was someone messaging my kofi that they dressed for Halloween as my character mashup.

You remind me of something posted by a BLM protester in Portland. The cops escalated in response to every step protesters took to keep themselves safe, yet the cops kept accusing the protesters of escalating things.

If you were to tell me that Stephen Miller is really into jigsaw puzzles, I would wonder in what way it served his central obsession of hatred.

I'm honestly a little surprised who might take my top slot right now 😁

That's what I'm thinking.

This could be super awesome for the military. Have you considered that this display would show that the military is nothing but a tool for the ego of our autocratic ruler? What's wrong with that? What are the downsides?

Is "peace through strength" literally a quote from dystopian literature or is it only that it has all the hallmarks of it?

Does this apply to the guy down the street flying the German flag? I mean, flying the flag of Israel is popular at the moment. What about those weirdos who seem to think that the only Americans who matter are cops? I mean, what about the Confederate flag? Which of these groups can we brutalize?
