Keweenaw mine tailing piles are probably still loaded with copper and other interesting rocks. But the beaches have cool rocks too and are less haunted lol

So much copper was right on the surface 200 years ago. Did you ever hear of the Ontonagon copper boulder? It was discovered right on the surface on the on the west branch of the Ontonagon River, where it was left by a glacier, 20 miles up river from Lake Superior.

Here is another article on it, we can thank the ancient massive supervolcano under Lake Superior for our waterfalls and sea-caves too www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/artic...

Definitely more wooded with a lot more moose and wolves and lakes loaded with fish I would think.

Absolutely, a supervolcano lies below Yellowstone but it is not in danger of blowing anytime soon. The one below Superior is long dormant.

These guys are not as innocent as they look. A few years back, I had several families of Baltimore Orioles that spent the summer by me because I put out grape jelly and half oranges for them all summer. But one of the red bellied picked up a hankering for orange and nipped feathers out of an oriole.

Not many know about the super volcano in the U.P.'s history but it created the rugged beauty we see today.

Yep and a lot of the bottom of Lake Superior is basalt too. And the volcano is why so much native copper was discovered on the surface in the western U.P.

Good decision. I knew once I saw those thin pink lines that the sun was going to be a no show this morning.

Many people don't know about the massive ancient volcano that was centered in Lake Superior a billion years ago or so, but that volcano gave the U.P. it's rugged beauty on the Superior shore.

For 906 Life, use #The906, #906Life or Yooper and the feed will pull your posts in.
For Great Lakes Life, just mention any of the Geat Lakes by name.
My Michigan feed pulls in all posts that have either #mymichigan or #puremichigan hashtags.

Have you seen the feeds I created? I have Great Lakes Life, 906 Life, My Michigan and Chasing Waterfalls. If you tag your posts your posts will be pulled into those feeds and more eyes will see them.

It's more of an acquired taste in Europe. And Trenary toast is a Finnish concoction.

Most Yoopers are Packer fans because we are much closer to Green Bay then to Detroit, and before the NFL broadcasts became splintered, the Packers were about the only game aired up here for decades. Plus the 1960's era Packers were dominant. That is fading somewhat now.

It's weird but late February is when we usually start getting more sunrises and less clouds blocking them. I've noticed this pattern for a few years now.
