He’s retiring. I am positive. He voted as leadership, not as an IL senator and not as someone standing for reelection.

Durbin is retiring and part of leadership. I think leadership decided this had to happen and threw themselves on their swords. I was disappointed Durbin basically shut off his phones. It was clear he wasn’t listening. We still have Duckworth.

Yesterday Durbin’s office was t taking calls or even making voice mail available. Today the switchboard itself is jammed.

Have been unable to get through to Durbin’s office all day and no opportunity to leave a message. It is ten minutes before closing and the phone didn’t even ring before going to the “please hang up and call again” message.

I think that’s part of their point and it will be reckoned with. The innies have already noticed but the outies will get there soon enough.

Why did you think Fetterman was a terrible human being
in 2022?

He doesn’t really care if the public reads it. It doesn’t make money (directly) anyway. It’s for an audience of one.

Looking forward to daily pro-abortion rights and pro-gender affirming care editorials.

My stomach is literally turning. What must have happened to that woman that they won’t even return her body? Were those babies killed in front of her?

Would like to keep him in Illinois, we need him. Would hate to see him stop being governor just to lose a presidential primary.

SCOTUS: Trump cannot throw babies off the roof, but if he does, he cannot be prosecuted for it.

Apple News gets you past so many paywalls. The paid version, obviously.

You could listen to the Revolutions podcast that covers the French Revolution.

My middle school son went directly from being super excited every time he saw one to making fun of them every time he saw one.

It will be used against democrats for sure but there’s not a word of his statement that I don’t agree with. Biden made some bad mistakes in running again. But overall, he devoted his life to service and did not get rich until the very end, all while dealing with tons of tragedy. He earned it.

I mean, go to the outdoor markets? I was tripping over them and all of the produce was gorgeous.

I would like a moratorium on politicians using the word “folks”.

He’d be Vice-President. Once he’s picked, his opinions don’t matter any more than mine do. He will say what the campaign tells him to say, and later, luck willing, what the White House tells him to say.

War is bad. Who could disagree? Then, perhaps, entities that are destined to lose wars shouldn’t start them.

They are protesting universities holding index funds, just like you almost surely do. Hope that helps.

Exactly. Whatever this is, it has nothing to do with old white guys specifically.

Travel Man is this show but with a young-ish Black guy, so I disagree with the overall characterization. (It is funnier than the Levy show.) It is a weird idea, yet I still enjoy them, even though I love traveling.

I feel like everyone is missing the point with this. TS is not inventing stories & mad that everyone thinks it’s real. She obviously has this as her aim. No one is forcing her to write songs that match up to paparazzi pictures. What she’s doing is making it harder for other artists who want to create
comment in response to
post
I think this is more frustrating for females songwriters who are not TS. Because these very clearly are diary entries, or she wants us to think so. Most people are processing their life’s experiences, not recounting specific events that dans can match up with paparazzi photos.

I find it discouraging when they adjust me like that because I’m supposed to exercise on my own too, and it makes me feel like I’m doing it wrong. And I already hate to exercise anyway.

Was the recovery horrible? I just feel like I can’t do anything like this until my child is old enough to drive. (Single mom)

Wait, you can surgically acquire arches? My feet are so flat and pronate so much. No one ever told me this was a thing!

Individuals still have to do the work. The institutions are not asking them to. It will be interesting to see if they are silent/lobbying/etc., but I don’t think the decision not to risk their people is unexpected or appalling.

Easy to say the “professional shouldn’t have rolled”. Harder to tell an individual doctor to risk their license and their freedom.

I mean, as someone who is very supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself and thinks so much criticism is wrong and anti-Semitic … this lady is a whack job, and Netanyahu needs to go.

For me, Teams replaced our previous system, which I think had video capabilities but was audio forward. With Teams, all the conferences are the same, and it is just whether you turn the camera on or not.

Are you aware that Hamas is launching rockets at non military targets, including population centers like Tel Aviv, hundred of times a day? The iron dome is mostly stopping them, but that is a matter of defense, not Hamas’ intent.
comment in response to
post
By set up, do you mean that Hamas diverted all of their money into rockets and tunnels, instead of establishing a functional society? If Gaza is so immiserated, where did all this technology come from? Money was there, it just wasn’t used to feed or educate Gazans.

So the people tearing down the pictures of kidnapped Israelis are simply objecting to our aid budget. Got it.
comment in response to

You seriously think there is no anti-semitism at play in this analysis? You don’t even have to look at other countries. Just look at how people are looking at the various activities in this specific conflict.
Israel is the ONLY country in that region with anything like a similar set of values.
comment in response to
post
You are asserting that Israelis are doing this as punishment - but with what evidence? None. Hamas is the one who makes it impossible to fight them wo harming civilians. The surrounding countries won’t take them into safety, nor would Hamas let them leave. Only Israel is expected to care for them
comment in response to
post
Do countries normally provide aid to countries that they are at war with? Hamas took the fuel that Israel sent them and used it to slaughter babies. Not as collateral damage in war, but one on one, for the purpose of killing Jews. There is only one side with genocidal intent.
comment in response to
post
How do you propose Israel defend itself
In the war Hamas started? What’s always missing here. Israel isn’t choosing collective punishment. Hamas makes it the only way to attack them.
Are terrorists cool with you everywhere or only in Israel?
