He might have done, but i don't think he stands out as being any better than those i mentioned. He certainly wouldn't have been starting, only the bench. So maybe two current players make it. I hope we can add more to the list in the coming years, a few have potential.

It's bonkers, we pay out more than Barca, Munich, Juve, Real, City and we've been crap. Throw in the huge contracts to the likes of Ronnie/Zlatan and none of it makes sense.
I will be more than happy if Ratcliffe stops all that nonsense in the future. If it means we miss out on a few, so be it.
comment in response to

We've been giving out stupid contracts since Woodward walked in the door, he even boasted about it.

I agree, he might dig his heels in and refuse to go and nobody would blame him. I just don't think the club actively looked to get rid of him, couple of reports of the Saudi league but we wanted a fee apparently and that wasn't going to happen.
comment in response to

The wastage on wages, fees over recent years is mindblowing.
Shaw, Casemiro, Sancho, Anthony, Mount (Rashford on the back of one good year) just to name a few. It's no bloody wonder all the money has gone.
comment in response to

Didn't we do it with Pogba? If i remember rightly, we just wanted shot of him.
He will go in the summer for sure and i agree, nobody would pay anything for him. The money this club has blown in recent years on the likes of him, Sancho, Anthony makes me feel ill to be honest with you.
comment in response to

We can pay him off, we've done it before. Nobody will pay any money for him, so we either keep him on his wages or pay off his contract. Think it would cost less to pay it off early, he goes as a free and gets a signing on fee to make up for any difference.

It does seem foolish to keep the likes of Casemiro who is earning around £18M a year to not play for us and sack staff on minimum wage i agree.
But then he is a tax dodging, union hating, worker right abusing capitalist so should we be surprised?
comment in response to
post
Think it looks awful when after costing the club over £30M down to his poor decisions, they then stick up ticket prices and sack loads of staff/cutbacks when they are partly to blame.
It's been an awful start, there is no denying that. Lets hope they learn from the mistakes in the future.

We can name more but right now, only Bruno stands out. The squad players of Fergie's time like Butt, Park, Brown, Evans, Fletcher would walk into this team no question and i think just shows how bad our recruitment has been recently.
comment in response to
post
I think Bruno makes the squad for sure, not sure about starting over the likes of Keane, Scholes, Carrick , Giggs etc, but squad for sure.
I don't think Maguire is any better than Johnson, Brown, O'Shea, Evans and i'm not even going to mention the likes of Vidic, Rio etc
Hopefully in a few years
comment in response to

Apart from the ones who have just arrived, the only one i'd not sell is Bruno. He alone turns up week after week and the one reason we aren't fighting relegation.
I'd also argue he is the only player who would make a Fergie squad, not the starting 11 just the squad.

I won't be celebrating, i think he is a decent player.

Like i just posted, i want him annoyed, i don't want him running off to social media knowing what a shitshow that is and stirring up the pot with his "look i'm sad" Insta post.
If he hadn't done that, i'd not have given it a 2nd thought.
comment in response to

a lot more crap on his manager, more questions, more for him to deal with. It's Sancho all over again, i want him to be annoyed by getting subbed, but i don't expect him to put unnecessary pressure on the manager in doing so.
comment in response to

It's the Insta post that did it. This is what makes it seem pre planned for me, he knew the crapfest that would follow by him doing it. Nobody would be talking about it (including me) if he hadn't, now it's a story where there was no need. Everybody knows how social media works and he just heaped

Time will tell i guess. I just think if you lucky enough to get to play for us and earn a fortune in doing so, the least you can do is give 100% and show respect to the fans who have paid a small fortune following you up and down the country. I think a few of them have forgotten that.
comment in response to

I might agree if he hadn't gone on Insta to make it seem more. Seems all pre planned to me and we know where that stuff ends up.

Standards and Practices and all that, only now we don't have any and why Pogba's agent was allowed to crap all over the club for years, or Sancho can act like he did, Lingard & Pogba dancing after losses, the leaks.......it's never ending. He could end it now of course by apologising to his teamates
comment in response to

I'm sure he will, but we have seen this play out before. Fact is, we have had stories about the squad for years now, never happened under Fergie or others, it's a new thing and came in with Woodward, player power basically.
Like i said, before if he did that the entire squad would be on him for it
comment in response to

Amorim and he knew he would be adding to it just days after the club have to threaten to sack staff leaking info, it just looks terrible, we all know the club is in the shit.
If he knew he made a honest mistake and it was spur of the moment stuff, his team behind him would have him apologise by now
comment in response to

It worked though didn't it, we won so the manager was right in doing so. If he has a problem he takes it up with Ruben after the game, instead he then went on Insta and posted some vague BS to compound it.
Nah, i've got no time for it, everyone there is feeling the pressure, none more so than

Garnacho, got subbed and made a point of walking down the touchline to the changing rooms and not taking his place on the bench. Few years ago a certain Irishman would have decked him for doing that.
Astonishing coming from a guy who has 3 goals all season.

But of course the real arseholes are the Prem League and the government for allowing the takeover to happen in the first place, despite mass protests by the fans.
Football clubs shouldn't be treated like other businesses and should hold some heritage standing for the broader community.
comment in response to

Not sure how, it would have been taking in by regulators as per league rules. I'm being serious with it, i honestly believe that is our best outcome. So we are more awful than we are for 5/6 years and a lesson for future owners perhaps. I'd take that in an instant if it meant they go.

to the debt? Do the Glazers start taking dividends again? Who pays for the new stadium and who owns what % of it after it's built.
It's a dead club walking and until the debt is gone, it will continue to be so. The debt was going to catch up some time, that time is now.
comment in response to

This is the problem, the old mob are still there and so is the debt and they have shown no interest in paying it. The place needs huge investment, there are no funds and we still have hundreds of millions of poor buys still on the books.
Just say Ratcliffe does improve the finances, what happens
comment in response to

I'm not being overdramatic either. Owners forced to sell as their cash cow has gone, oil states won't want the hassle of 4/5 years to get us back into the Prem. Price is lower so it opens it up to other buyers.
Didn't do Juve, Rangers, Barca that much harm when they got clobbered.
comment in response to
post
We are screwed whatever happens, it's a zombie club. We either become a plaything of some oil state, or have what we have now.
Would have been better if Ratcliffe didn't come in and we went bust and relegated to Div 2. Glazers would have had to sell and we would have put off the oil states as well
comment in response to

Think it's to do with the fact it's a Billionaire tax dodger cutting costs for the very lowest paid workers, without addressing the bigger problem.
This is the guy who when faced with a 4B tax bill, could have built two hospitals and probably had one named after him. He ran away abroad though.
comment in response to
post
Glazers would have had to sell up for a much lower price and it would probably would have put off the oil states with us being out of the limelight.
The fact he moved abroad to save 4B in tax when he is worth 255B, tells you everything about the guy. Utter wanker of a man to be honest with you.
comment in response to
post
I didn't want any oil state buying us to be honest, i probably would have walked away if that happened.
That being said, all Ratcliffe has done is throw the Glazers a lifeline by investing. Would have been better to see the club go under, probably relegated to Div 2 and start again.

When you look at the money he wasted in keeping Ten Hag on and the Ashworth debacle, how much was wasted there? 25M or so
It's a shitshow of a club now and i can't see any way out of it with the owners we have.
Not sure who to hate the most, the mob who treat us as a MTM, or the tax dodger

had folded and been relegated to Div 2 and start over again, at least the Glazers would have been forced to sell all shares.
It's a dead club in it's current format with the Glazers still there and Ineos trying to fleece the fans to make up for it.

Zuckerberg just sways from who benefits him most, Musk is a conspiracy theorist and racist arsehole. Probably gets it from his dad after listening to him.

Yes and his family are mad, but i doubt he had visions of running the United States back then and spreading far right conspiracy theories, now he thinks it's his right to and he should get paid to do so.

No of course not, but i doubt if you went back to a Musk in his early 20's he would be such a twat either. Power corrupts and all that.

Think every billionaire is greedy, otherwise how do they get to be one.
comment in response to

He doesn't really give it away though, it's all tied to his foundation and his mass land grab of farmland that he is doing now. All for the greater good as he would tell you but just like Musk, it's all geared towards their own particular vision of what the future should be.

Show me one billionaire who actually got his money through being ethical and wants to give some of his extreme wealth away for the greater good and i'll show you a unicorn.
Staggered folk take this guy for some white knight when everything in his professional life shows him to be anything but.

Of course it is with a new ground, look at Spurs. Look at us, from 750 odd Million to a multi Billion club and we've been shit with no investment in anything.
Football is the easiest way to make money if you have the funds to start with.
