There is a major difference with comparing yourself to Swe/Fin. πΈπͺfor example cooperated with Nato from the beginning, spying for them&was responsible for baltic. Some very brave pilots & long cooperation. Soviet shot down 2 of our planes when they found out. Neutrality after ww2 was just bogus.

As a european I say, go for it. Whatever it takes to get Russia to stop their war. China is threatening us too and has been complicit in the war against Ukraine & attacks against nato countries.

If Russia is concerned about Nukes, we are equally concerned by nukes in Murmansk and Kalingrad. Russia has threatened to use them against it's neighbor. Why is that okay? Why can they have them close to our borders, cities? They don't have a foot to stand on.

U.S don't really understand europe point of views here, to them, Ukraine in Nato cause them more problems than gains, for europe Ukraine cause more gains than problems. Unfortunately this is going to be U.S position, it will be our job to convince them.

Nobody wants to attack Russia. Especially not in 2025. Europe doesn't do those things anymore. The only one who inserted themself in various wars in europe is Russia. They keep fueling it, when we long left those ideas. We have long settled the borders & agreed to them. Russia agreed to them as well

What turned it around was their demands that Fin+Swe and Ukraine could not join Nato in December. When they invaded, we knew that could be our future too, if we didn't join. Russia has always acted with a sort of arrogance towards our countries with threats, this time risk was worth it.

The most arrogant country on earth strikes again. It looks like Maga and Trump see EU as their biggest threat. Not china, not russia.

Gripen would complete the deal. Sweden is so close to denmark so logistically, that just no problem.
comment in response to

EU should make a deal with Ukraine, fast-track them into eu. It could have restricted voting rights as we work to integrate Ukraine into EU. This is a massive step we need to take urgently. Some of Russias motivation to carry on with the war will diminish. Why is nobody talking about this?

Rye loaf is divine. We have something called kavring in πΈπͺ (rye loaf) and I make a cheesecake and use kavring kinda like this cheesecake. Sometimes with matjesill (herring ) sometimes salmon, shrimps π€€

But i have not heard Ukrainians push this. So My take is that they wanted f16
and gripen was not their priority. Where have you seen they wanted gripen?
comment in response to
post
Why do you think we sent gripens to poland? 100% because of the awacs.
comment in response to
post
I rather they train too much than too little. After all, they are at war. Poland for example doesn't have that pressure. Better to get it right than do it fast.
comment in response to
post
Gripen should have been sent but if i remember correctly Ukraine wanted to focus on f16. If gripen was sent with meteor and taurus that alone would have been so much more valuable than F16. No matter if they got more of them and just 16 of gripen.
comment in response to

The awacs don't do much if not propely trained and getting it there with proper protection so that Russia wont just strike it, also matters. It took 9 months to train polish pilots but they are not at war. So it is a little different.

I knew that the moment Trump ran his mouth about Nato that Zelensky never said anything about Nato. Trump is so extremly reckless with what he is saying. It just a waste of time for Zelensky to have to keep correcting him.

I would not trust the next US president either.

Trump considers Belarus same country as Russia.

This is exactly the correct analyze. There has not been a consistent policy for a long time in the US. We will move ahead finding other partnerships and trading partners. It is a mistake to think we will just take this laying down. We proceed with plan B.
comment in response to

You sound very unwilling to be europes partner.
You threatened to leave Nato and you already left EU. Even better reason to be closer partners with France.
comment in response to

We don't demand your natural resources. It would never cross our mind to do that. However, someone has to deliver the message. You know better.

Trump is the definition of a drama queen. That's the problem. It got europe working togheter.
comment in response to

Obviously, we want to secure partnership with U.K, france objects because they have some issues and then how are we going to solve it? It happened to us so many times. Latest was hungary and Turkey. It sucks but what can you do.

This is the first I heard of it. We definetely don't need access to some fishing waters in U.K, that's not on our agenda. I would demand access to all of EU's fishingwaters in return or something.

For example italy and sweden work togheter to stop migration. You still be on the outside looking in and have no influence. We on the other hand have partners within EU and can do something about it. We had result. You can't fix complex problems alone.

Not really. Admit you were tricked to leave EU. Are you richer yet? Do you have less refugees? Is your life easier?

Amazing work Poland & Ukraine! π«‘

Russia will never view you as neutral so good luck with that. If you where in the eu you could acually have power to influence it. Like how Sweden had to do with the refugee issue. It is very possible.

Turkey is no reliable ally. Doesn't matter if the people are. Erdogan is a dictator.

Trump & Russia unites us like no other. The relations with europe was pretty bad shape when Trump left white house, Biden manage to save some of it, but now we are at a point when we feel it is barely worth it anymore. A powerful europe is what has to be done but we expect US to fight back on that.

Gotland has a long rich history & Russia occupied it for 3 months so they do feel the seriousness. This is why we don't want Nord stream to open again. Russia will use it as an excuse to put warships there, to spy on us.
Trump needs to be stopped. He is dangerous.

Sorry, didn't mean you were naive. Generally speaking. I'm not afraid but dealing with some pissed off Russians lately they are not happy campers right now. It will likely lead to some confrontation in the future no matter the outcome with Ukraine.
comment in response to

We must not be naive in this. Russians are boiling right now with the support we send. There is the history which ofcourse Russians are aware of. It's not by coincidence they threatend Sweden & Finland with actions & striked Poltava yesterday. I pay close attention to patterns with them.

Doesn't makes sense to depend on US alone. We need cold war armies, this is the only message Russia understand. If one is weaker the other can take over for a bit. Europe and US happened to be weak at the same time so Russia took their chances knowing US is exhausted from previous wars.

Our relations has never been that good as it was with Russia in late 90's-2007, so we allowed ourself to relax too much. Turned ugly pretty in 2008 again so it's about time, we had a pacifist as PM during those time, totally inept, in more than one way. Happy to see some pragmatic idealism from us.
