For the sake of an argument lets say most trans people have assumed we'll be getting a far right government at some point given the last 14+ years. Are we seeing the cishet go through stages of grief as they realise this themselves?

Perhaps but can you at least acknowledge that demanding a minority do something blatantly against their own interests just so you can feel slightly safer doesn't make you an ally of that minority and it's kind of a cunty thing to do in general?

Don't even need to live *THAT* long. COVID is leaving a whole lot of people with long term medical issues all of which will be eventually funnelled towards these routes.

Is anyone else getting tired of the "Throw yourself under the bus... for the greater good." bullshit coming from both sides of the Atlantic? I mean really... really... militantly tired of it?
comment in response to

Liberal: they're all the greater good until them and theirs is on the line then they're just another fash.
comment in response to

That's exactly what I thought your answer would be: No, you aren't prepared to go under the bus you're just happy to demand others do.
How very much like an Ethereal.
comment in response to

Is it? Seriously, if one side wants you dead and the other side promises to include those that want you dead in all levels of their decision making process... what's the difference beyond one being more conniving about hiding their atrocities?
Would you go under the bus for the Greater Good?

You had Trump being full fat fash and at the end you had Harris who was promising to be fash-lite and fully fash inclusive.
The problem isn't the voters, it's that for a lot of people both choices were the same so they went "none of the above".

So long as tomorrow is the same as today (maybe slightly better) they will tolerate quite a lot.

I'm pretty sure if you turned the volume up on anyone making a statement like "We see you" you'd hear them mumble "but we don't want to" right after.

As has ever been the case: some of their illustrious forebears wrote glowing pieces about the work camps.

Do the DWP still have that year end bonus tied to sanction targets (that they totally didn't have until people posted pictures)?

In our case? The very expensive fighter jet we brought has a very large kill switch.

Some of the things they think aren't "necessary" includes a fridge/freezer, a microwave, access to the internet (try accessing government services off-line these days) and so on.
It's a repackaged far-right notion of "the undeserving poor" and anyone coming out with it is a massive twat.

But a several didn't claim it or otherwise went without and the amount of money saved utterly minuscule. The only reason to enact that policy on that side of winter is "put the frightners on a bunch of OAPs" and get people like you all excited.
Which is why Labour are utter scum.
comment in response to
post
They weren't though and we're seeing stories coming out now of OAP's who had the frightners put on them by the government. That you see this as only a failure of messaging and don't think Labour enacting a right-wing policy in a right-wing manner is a bit weird says it all.
comment in response to
post
But the outcome of them doing it the way you support did leave pensioners frightened of freezing and going cold.
So you do and you did, you just don't want to say it with your full heart. So why do you want to put the frighters on a bunch of OAP's and do you think that makes you "left wing"?
comment in response to
post
If it means not putting the frightners on a bunch of OAP's then yes. You still haven't answered why you want a bunch of OAPs frightened of freezing to death.
comment in response to
post
No, you don't so it's the perfect time to rework that benefit unless you've a particular reason you want to put the frightners on a bunch of OAP's. I really don'y care about whatever you're classifying as undeserving poor.
So why do you want OAP's frightened of freezing to death?
comment in response to

What good did putting the frightners on a bunch of OAP's over winter achieve? He could have done it in March, when it isn't as cold.

I would say they're worse. Say what you like about Thatcher but she actually had principals, they sucked but they were there.
I can't honestly tell you what Starmers principals actually are beyond preformative cruelty.

Which is fine as in my world the line would rise year on year. Private business is there to provide value-add or premium options but ultimately nobody sleeps rough, nobody goes hungry, or cold, etc.

Actions would speak louder than words and be harder for a hostile media to suppress. So where the hell is the return of nurses training bursaries, council funding increases or social housing build out? It's all kind of gone quiet on the railways as well now I think about it...

I don't want VR, I want a Holodeck in much the same way people don't really want "3D Printers" they want a replicator. I was seeing the bottom picture in the late 90's using a 28k8 modem & VRML, just with worse graphics.

I think "the things you need to do to acquire ever more money twist you inside" is more accurate. I ain't saying I would feather the nest if someone gave me a fat stack just that I'd hit the "I can't think of anything else, time to help people" point a lot quicker than someone who "earned" wealth.

Nostalgia is a powerful drug. Whilst I'm not immune to it and do miss the feelies, the big boxes, the whirr of the FDD, the tick of the HDD, and the roar of my AWE32... I really don't want to go back.
I like having my own front door too much.

"I'm left wing" screeched the Nazi.
Yeah, we've heard that one before... in the 1930's... try again with something more modern.
