What can help:
- practicing setting boundaries, starting with smaller things first e.g. what to have for dinner
- replacing apologies e.g. βthanks for your patienceβ
- safe relationships where you can be yourself
- reflecting on what you ACTUALLY want in a situation
- neuroaffirming therapy

"The world is not built to allow us to feel safe, & we still have to live in this world, & so having safe spaces for these autistic children, and autistic people, to be able to be themselves, to unwind, it helps with mitigating meltdowns, regulation, and to give us a place to restore ourselves." 8/
