It’s baffling to me that ad firms didn’t snap up all of the talented folks doing vine a decade ago. There were people who figured out how to tell a funny and compelling story in 7 seconds— hiring them should have been a no brain choice for anyone making YouTube ads but no, apparently not. So weird.

Those are stunning colors! I love those greens, and the bronze cat buttons will really highlight those pops of brown.

Movies that are truly better than their book counterparts invariably overshadow the books so much over time people end up having no idea there WAS a book (see: Legally Blonde) and thus help perpetuate the idea that books are always better than their movie adaptations.

Awww, how cute! I too have a back cat with an unusual tail— Sessue has a big kink about a third of the way down that curves, and he also has the ring tail gene so on top of that his tail is curly! When he twitches it he looks like he’s casting forgotten runes. Probably to divine dinner time…

No, but creating a narrative where we understand megawealth ruins people and turns them into pathetic losers is extremely useful in getting the public on board with wealth tax. It becomes more appealing even to those who think they’ll become rich if they know megawealth makes you a sad looser.

I get the desire to dig deep but honestly I think the basic facts speak for themselves. They had at least 20 years to collab again and they never did, and before Pratchett’s death they had very little to do with each other.

And I mean they wrote a beloved & best selling book together and then never did it again. The official reason was their schedules didn’t align but I think it’s fair to assume there were other reasons too, most writers I know wouldn’t let schedules get in the way forever if there wasn’t more going on

Its all so fake, if safety in bathrooms was a real problem the best angle for reform would be mandating bathrooms be gender neutral single room family style bathrooms where only one person is in there at a time but that’s not what people are doing because it’s not a real problem! It’s about control

Ha, I feel like this is on you for ordering something called “Idaho nachos” to be begin with… like, what were you expecting if not potatoes???

I mean, we have the stupid bike talisman to remind drivers cyclists are allowed to be there, but nobody is so asshole-ish as to call it a bike rout.

They’ve so obviously given up that they’ve just gone ahead and painted a bike symbol in the middle of the road, like they think it’s a magical talisman that will keep cyclists from getting hit by cars. Even my city hasn’t stooped so low and I live in Idaho.

In the 60s my stepfather’s boy scout troop used to paint tumbleweeds silver and gold every year and sell them as Christmas decorations, which I guess split the difference between a traditional Christmas tree and an aluminum one, in like, the worst possible way.

Ghost stories are a long time traditional Christmas thing in the UK, even aside from Dickens. BBC has even run “A Ghost Story For Christmas” special off and on for about 50 years.

I mean I wore Maya Kern skirts the last time I flew (coming and going) and I recommend it! Super comfy and also the large pockets are extremely convenient!

It makes the watermelon sweeter and adds depth and complexity to the flavor.

I love when dogs know they’ve committed a crime and they also know they’re cute so they’re hoping for mercy.

Thanks! Both skirts are by @mayakern.bsky.social and while neither are currently available she puts our cute stuff constantly.

Oh for SURE. Thanksgiving is always rough for some but a post presidential election thanksgiving? Unbearable. You gotta have something to smooth the edges.

I suspect some of them are! My mom was very puzzled over why the dispensary would be open today and I had to be like… it’s a holiday exclusively about spending time with family and eating vast amounts of food, of course it’s open!

Judging by the fact that my SIL is working today, dispensaries in eastern oregon are for sure open. I am going to guess her workplace is not the only one.

I think some of this stems from low level covid denial. Not qanon stuff but people who have put covid in a mental 2020/2021 box and now it’s Over. Life feels worse than it did in 2019, but they aren’t able to engage with the ripple effects covid has left (it’s Over)so the problem must be The Economy

It’s almost got a fen/lan vibe but frankly fen is too calculating to actually be able to pull off being an ingenue with an inner ho he doesn’t know about. You gotta have a Martin or a Mattin or a Nicodemus— somebody with more personal blinders lol— fen would plan his own sacrifice to the wild dog

The position most republicans hold, that Puerto Rico can never be granted statehood because it would mean two extra democrats in the senate forever, is wild to me. The outright admission that they’d rather be racist than win is fascinating.

It sucks so bad!! Who wants to hear that?? And you can make a good argument it’s not even biblical so like… maybe just don’t!
