Heresy is back on Radio 4 at 6.30pm tonight with David Mitchell, Sarah Kendall and Chris McCausland discussing dancing, A.I. and Meghan Markle! And if you'd like free tickets to an *even starrier* recording of Heresy next Monday in London, go here: www.sroaudiences.com/application....

At long last, the wait is over. The all-important #OnlyConnect THIRD PLACE PLAYOFF is tonight at 8pm on BBCTwo.

The new series of Heresy begins tonight on Radio Four! The opening guests are Miles Jupp, Zoe Lyons and Phil Wang. We’ve made three episodes so far and I think they are really funny, sparky shows – hope you enjoy it. 6.30pm, BBC Radio 4

I was DELIGHTED to see a newspaper listing describe last week's episode of Only Connect as "two teams battling to make the third place play-off". The last opportunity to qualify for that key match is TONIGHT AT 8pm on BBC Two. (And whichever team doesn't make it will be in the final).

Next Tuesday at 6.30pm, a new series of Heresy starts on Radio 4! If you'd like FREE tickets to the next recording (evening of Monday 3rd March, in London - pretty amazing guests that night), you can apply here: sroaudiences.com/application....

No, fair enough. Don’t read the piece, just watch the video. This is the closest we’ve yet come to the great 3-2-1. www.thesun.co.uk/tv/33314708/...

OMG I know who the Kingfisher is. Harry indeed! Can’t believe that took me so long. This show just gets better and better. #TheMaskedSinger

Just seen Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright at Wyndham’s Theatre, genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever seen. So clever, funny, surprising, creative and *un-boring*. And I don’t even LIKE scary things! Phenomenal 😱 ❤️

You can understand Lauren Sanchez having her phone out here. She must have worried the occasion wouldn’t otherwise be recorded.

Tonight’s Only Connect is one of my favourite of the series. Two fantastic captains provide a lovely opening chat (thanks, captains!) and it’s a really jolly episode in general. Enjoy the music sequence…. 8pm on BBC Two

New series of HERESY for Radio 4! *Free* tickets are now available for the first date (Monday 27th January; two showtimes) in London. It's a fun hour or so at the theatre, audience participation is totally optional and big name comedians are guaranteed. www.sroaudiences.com/application....

Catching up on one of the #onlyconnect specials. It might be the best episode ever. Phenomenal work. @vcorenmitchell.bsky.social @davidmcgaughey.bsky.social @quizquizquiz.bsky.social

All right, fun's over. The #OnlyConnect CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS SPECIAL kicks off in half an hour: 2023 champions the Strigiformes grapple with 2024 champions the Thrifters. The teams are lovely. The questions are not. 8pm on BBC Two.

Can’t wait for everyone to hear/see/witness this very special special.

If you’re blind, vision-impaired or simply unable to open your eyes for reasons of hangover, then tonight’s Only Connect is for you! It’s up against a lot of other treats at 8 o’clock, but may be our greatest adventure yet. Only Connect Sounds Special 8pm on BBC Two #OnlyConnect

As I just explained on TV, the tiny crossword visible in tonight’s opening shot was created by our brilliant team member Dan Peake and CAN BE PLAYED! To save you copying it off the television, here are photos of both these simple and cryptic versions. Happy New Year! We love you. #OnlyConnect

Happy New Year’s Eve! If you’re staying in tonight, especially by yourself, why not join us for the ONLY CONNECT SINGLE SPECIAL? I would normally say something sardonic at this point but I genuinely think it’s a lovely NYE companion. 8pm on BBC Two

Three more Only Connect festive treats remain this season. Tonight: the Transatlantic special! Two absolutely delightful teams return for a really jolly show, some delightful music and, I must say, I have never looked better. Thanks, Ozempic! 8pm on BBC Two

Tonight’s OC festive offering is the BBC Special! Celebrating 60 years of BBC Two, it features two teams from the *very first series* of Only Connect, which happened so long ago it was actually performed as a live quiz at the Globe with bearbaiting as a curtain raiser. 8pm on, of course, BBC Two

Who are the two most important British novelists? Anyone can tell you that: George Orwell and Jilly Cooper. For trickier questions, watch the Orwellians v the Jillies in the Only Connect Books Special, 8pm BBC2. (Not that much trickier. It is Christmas. Definitely a few that children can answer.)

I forgot I had those shoes on

Tonight is the full-on Only Connect Christmas special - a very twinkly family affair (fully child-friendly), with a starry guest question writer and added penguins. Best final credits sequence ever. 8.15pm on BBC Two.

Tonight at 8 pm on BBC Two: the Only Connect Royal Special! Two delightful teams come back to kick off our series of eight standalone specials for Christmas - and what could be more festive than a lot of tricky questions about old kings? See you later! 👑 👑👑🎄🎄🎄

HERE'S SOME EXCITING NEWS. This Christmas, we have made EIGHT Only Connect specials! Starting Monday night at 8pm, then 8.15 on Christmas Eve, and 8pm most nights from Boxing Day: a range of themes, wonderful returning teams, and some really lovely episodes. Merry Quizmas!

I am in absolute f***ing pieces #Strictly

I wrote this about Chris McCausland last week. Tonight’s the final and we have literally bought a new television for it - like people did for the coronation in 1953. #Strictly

This week my column is about the BBC, which I like, and that publican’s petition, which I don’t. In the Telegraph! It’s wokery gone mad! www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/wolf-ha...

Is it just me, or are the bots easier to spot on this site than they were on the old one?

Tonight I'm hosting Have I Got News For You; Ian's guest is Stacey Dooley and Paul's guest is Andy Hamilton. There's a lot of dark news this week, let's see if we can lighten it up a bit. #HaveIGotNewsForYou, 9pm on BBC One
