Wind's Seed - lynn.github.io/winds-seed/
A small PC-98 RPG by Compile (yes, of Puyo Puyo). I wanted to get weird lately with fan translations and PC-98 in particular. Dunno that I can RECOMMEND it, but it almost has a Brave/Default system ("Call"), cool music, and great sprites. Glad I tried it!

I think the modern conveniences are worth it.
Also you only get Kageyama in the modern version... 👀

Thank Goodness You're Here! - store.steampowered.com/app/2366980/...
Came in the same bundle as Little Kitty, Big City; saw it was supposed to be funny and short, so I went for it. So glad I did! Multiple LOL moments for absurdity and clever writing. Short little "adventure" game "helping" in town.

Little Kitty, Big City - store.steampowered.com/app/1177980/...
Grabbed in a recent bundle after hearing about it last year. Super chill and really funny. Goal is just to wander and discover, meet animal friends, and get yourself back home! Played through in just 2 or 3 sessions, did most tasks.

LIVE A LIVE - store.steampowered.com/app/2014380/...
The 1994 SFC RPG HD-2D-ified and officially translated. Dabbled in the fan translation forever ago, but played through two endings here! Another I wish I ended up LOVING, but just really liked. Super impressive for its era. Rad ideas all around.

Mouthwashing - store.steampowered.com/app/2475490/...
To share any more than this would be too spoilery for what's otherwise a narrative game. Go in blind if you can. Liked it more than I thought I would; wish I liked it even more. Does its intended aesthetic justice. Glad I checked it out.

Last real significant grabs arriving in this box: the Pink VHS and soundtrack CD!
Combining those with the other stuff I already had (original manga, CD single, anime comic, movie pamphlet and guide book)… I have a pretty comprehensive Pink collection!

The original 7 all had them, yeah. We have the interviews from them up in our translations section on the site.

Believe it or not, but I was personally missing a couple Shenlong Times (even though obviously between us all at the site we had them). I rectified that! Now I have two of most of them! 😂 …… and an extra copy of Daizenshuu 7 to specifically keep on hand in my office at arm’s length at all times.

Back to more interesting things, and speaking of Dragon Battlers, I grabbed the game’s two main guides and some specific cards (alongside the aforementioned contemporary V-Jump issues’ coverage) for no particular relevant modern reason at all.

Got it. I'm on it today. 👍

Ah yes, I saw that response here! Can you actually use the contact form on the website to send a message? It'll be top of mind for me if I see it come through there. Many thanks! 🙇♂️

A brief pause for the not-necessarily-so-exciting documentation materials:
I like keeping track of the random compilation giveaways at events like Jump Festa. This JF2025 book has samples from a few different DB manga.
(I have an unpublished wiki page listing all these books…! 😂😭)

Grabbed the 1988 No. 23 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, notable for DB chapter 173’s title page featuring Toriyama’s drawing of a contest winning Goku outfit! Subsequent printings don’t include all the explanatory text. Also: have you noticed this design just hanging out in the Daizenshuu 1 interview?!

That was supposed to be 2009-2010 V-Jump issues (not 2019). This is the Kai and Dragon Battlers and Raging Blast era. Real dire in terms of artwork and content (pre-Heroes/Xenoverse), but specifically wanted to get certain Super Saiyan 3 debuts for the archives…

I don't really get a choice with how Buyee ships. They use whatever they use for whatever works best for the package. I've had it come all variety of services over time.

It's an AI bot responding to the activation check question by not only including the "response" it's *supposed to give*, but *also* its own introductory text, giving away the fact that it's an AI bot.

Oh yeah I looked them all up! Crazy what can be done with it. Wanted to play a basically “vanilla” version though (as much as one can truly be).

Blasted through it in about 4 hours yesterday. Didn't get every achievement, but without really going out of my way, hit all the major milestones. Super chill, really funny, plays well on Steam Deck, etc. etc. etc. Part of a great $15 bundle right now, too - www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/sa...

That is a very important point of discussion in this very same scene.

Restarting the Fu stuff and cool cool his opening dialogue just isn’t subtitled. Nice game we got here.

Opening up XV2 again is definitely right up there with opening any other live service game or MMO you haven’t played in years. Completely incomprehensible.

Oh no the plasma itself is still chugging. Use it everyday for Steam Deck docked play. This Kuro will last forever. It’s the PS2 I dunno about. My original is dead, but this one is a slim so theoretically it should be fine… the red light is still on!

I actually have a PS2 hooked up via component to my old plasma so that’s technically doable.
… but let’s not.

…and this CRT won’t turn on now.
Cool, cool.
