This is what they do with every issue. When you point out they're going to do some BS, they call you hysterical or lying. Then they do it. When you point out they've done that BS after the fact, they seamlessly switch to saying "You're still talking about that? move on."

You nailed this, and the thing most white people who ignore or downplay this either do not realize or are intentionally ignoring is that the US's prison apparatus will eventually come for them at the same or an even greater scale.
