I have been told it's National Hot Chocolate Day and I am ABSOLUTELY gonna take the opportunity. Never a bad time for hot chocolate

EVERYDAY ALIENS is a novella-length collection of flash fiction and poetry about weird aliens living their everyday lives. Amoeboids, cartwheeling worms, things with lots of eyes, fractals, and more. Out now! #SFF #BSNM #Aliens #FlashFiction #Invertebrates www.polenthblake.com/words/aliens...

Just in case: If you are in the Seattle-area and need a document notarized to protect yourself and your family from this fascist regime but are too afraid/lack the funds to go to a UPS store or similar, I am a notary and I will notarize your documents *for free*.

queer theory as a whole does stand to learn So Much from asexual and aromantic modes of thinking and it's so disappointing to me that we're still regarded as being like... also here while the Real Queers have Real Issues

Ok, Bsky - a MISSION for you. We want as many subs to Wrath Month as possible, from as diverse an array of voices as possible. POC voices, disabled voices, neurodiverse voices, trans voices, ace and aro voices - everyone. Scream it from the rooftops, folks!

Going to a conference in Mexico that was presented half in Spanish, half in English, with a mix of Americans and Mexicans in attendance, really made me confront how stumbling and slow my Spanish is - and how much I can make myself understood anyway. And renewed my desire to get better at it

"Ghost-apples" found on Michigan farm. Ice storm covers rotten apples on the tree. The rotten apple has a lower freezing point than water, doesn't freeze. Apple gets mushy, oozes out a hole in the bottom of the ice, leaving a ghostly shell. www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/g...

Went to some AMAZING places in Mexico last week! Casas Grandes is an incredible archaeological site. I love archaeology actuallyyyyyy And my Spanish wasn't even terrible

It is a tragedy and atrocity that these people are trapped in orbit in a space station and that corporations have cancelled every rescue endeavor to bring them home. To have spent an entire year up there, and missing their families for the holidays... this is horrid.

I often feel dismayed and like I will never be able to publish anything or make it as a writer because I don't enjoy twitter-like social media. It really sucks that this is an /expectation/. What's the point of a publisher if you have to be an internet celebrity already to make it as a writer?

It is 100% the job of the publisher to push the books they publish. That's literally what they take royalties for 😐 Blaming their authors for not being online enough is ludicrous and mean.

itchio suggests creators price stuff $2+ on their platform so i decided to make a chart... at $1 almost half the money disappears to fees! $2 sets the total fees under 30% (30% is the usual platform fee for steam & consoles, not including other fees) ref: itch.io/docs/creator... #indiegamedev

As people are thinking about awards and catching up on reading, I put together a post shouting out some of my favorite novellas of 2024. acwise.net/favorite-nov...

While looking for a photo of a paint sample, I stumbled on a story I may have forgotten to post about being published. It's not even in my bibliography. But looking at my calendar, a lot was going on that week. Anyway, here it is: www.heroicfantasyquarterly.com?p=2743

It's still #AroWeek and I put together a rainbow of aromantic books (mostly aromantic sci-fi and aromantic fantasy but..) for everyone to peruse! Going to put the full list as a thread. (also, look, I only put *one* of my 4 City of Spires colourful covers there!!) 🌈📚

A glass Roman inkwell, in a lovely rich blue with white decoration - a relatively everyday & functional item, & yet a beautiful one. It was made 1700-2000 years ago - hard not to wonder what documents it once helped write!
