I don't know about you, but if I had over 400 billion dollars to my name, I'd give a billion to every single person on the planet (except for other billionaires), and spend the rest establishing efficient food, water, medical, and educational infrastructure worldwide. But hey, that's just me.

If you folks are stocking your pantries with shelf-stable canned and dry goods, please also remember to stock up on cooking oils, salt, honey, and a wide variety of SPICES. Survival food is great for keeping you alive, but bland, flavourless meals can get soul-crushing VERY quickly.

Opium poppies (Papaver somniferum) are illegal to grow in many places, so be sure to check bylaws before planting any. That said, if any of them happen to spring up successfully (and voluntarily) in wild fields, it's likely because their seeds were cold stratified first and germinated successfully.

Most dollar stores have food sections full of canned and dry goods. We always leave a few dollars tucked in amongst these items when we shop, just in case they might be helpful. A few dollars may not seem like much, but they may help to keep someone from going hungry until their next pay period.
