Les gens qui gueulent contre Hidalgo et les décisions dans Paris devraient regarder ce genre de cartes et voir la réduction absolument dingue des émissions de dioxyde d'azote en 18 ans.

Choosing never to know what this means

Heartbreaking scenes from Sumy this morning as residents gathered for Palm Sunday only to be met by Russian missiles. Horrific example of Russia intensifying attacks while Ukraine has accepted an unconditional ceasefire. My thoughts are with the Ukrainian people today.

#Bucha was the Oradour of Ukraine. Here, in #Sumy, is the Guernica of #Ukraine. No more discussions with #Russia. Immediate cessation of all negotiations. #Putin must be ostracized until a commitment is made not to target civilian objectives.

Genuinely amazing that Trump has devised a tariff regime that exempts phones manufactured in China but hammers anyone assembling electronics in the USA using parts made in China. Cannot *wait* to see how his boosters explain that decision as genius.

Homeless workers now have to submit *proof of employment* to be allowed to sleep in their cars in one of the richest counties in the U.S. Welcome to America: people shivering overnight in subzero temperatures, steps from luxury ski resorts, for the privilege of keeping the local economy booming.

Among many geopolitical arguments for saving British Steel there’s also the fine volunteers who will let you spend an afternoon in Scunthorpe driving a train around the active steel works on a massive private railway past vats of molten metal.

Not confirmed but… hearing ICC have agreed to recognise Afghanistan women’s team in exile. Significant progress if so.

“Barry Fry of Peterborough said this was like David against Goliath, well David is giving Goliath a real fight” says someone on talkSPORT. Well…yes.

The cruel Hamas terror must be fought. But international humanitarian law applies — with a special obligation to protect civilian sites. How is a hospital supposed to be evacuated in under 20 minutes? #Gaza @abaerbock.diplo.de (1/2)

🤣

Totally agree. Windrush was an entirely predictable and widely predicted consequence of the hostile environment. A basic knowledge of law and history was all that was needed to see the trouble coming.

A very strange UK politics where it seems the two traditional parties are targeting the same ~20% of the population and nobody very much cares about the remaining 80%.

Can somebody fix his golden faucets or something so we can stop hearing about this?

13 April 1943 | The German radio broadcasted the news about the discovery in Katyn Forest of mass graves of Polish prisoners of war murdered by Soviet NKVD in 1940. Today in Poland we observe the Day of Remembrance of Victims of the #Katyn Massacre. katynpromemoria.pl/the-history-...

In last issue before being taken over Obs publishes important story about support for Europe reconnect. Voters want to start trading, travelling again not just defence which is done perfectly well by NATO www.theguardian.com/politics/202... @labour4europe.bsky.social @richardburden.bsky.social

Do you yearn to hear Starmer condemn Trump? If so, you're going to be disappointed www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Hmm. Yes. Fair point.

Think yesterday has a claim to be one of best days for this Government. 3 reasons 1. Taking control of the plant/nationalisation popular in of itself 2. More widely it shows Government can take control of situations 3. Gave Labour a definition/purpose that has been lacking

I have written to David Lammy to ask him to summon the Chinese Ambassador after @WeraHobhouse.bsky.social was refused entry to Hong Kong when visiting her family, apparently simply because she is a British MP. China should not be allowed to undermine our democracy.

Here‘s a thing Europe is uniquely bad at compared to the US: hyping and monetising its innovation. From MP3 to WWW the innovation is there - the money is made in the US.

The parallels are uncanny. Both Brexit and Maga features people very annoyed with ‚red tape‘ but unwilling to put in even five minutes to understand the economic situation, why the rules are there and what they do.

This is like when *certain Brits* were astonished to learn how many goods passed into the UK via the channel

The ‘new world order’ of the past 35 years is being demolished before our eyes. This is how we must proceed www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Let's be honest. Many Americans are willing to accept Treason and Rape from a white man rather than Health care from a black man

This is what Hannah Arendt meant when she spoke of the banality of evil.

A completely new level of f#ckwittery.

chairman trump, the people yearn for a great leap forward. we will revitalize american manufacturing with a fleet of garage 3d printers that stretches from sea to shining sea.

Donald Trump is now badly wounded. Europe can seize an advantage | Will Hutton www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Trump: I am the strongest, most powerful person ever! The whole world lines up to kiss my ass! Courts: Return Kilmer Abrego Garcia from the El Salvador torture prison you sent him to Trump: Sorry. No can do. Totally out of my hands

I just want to tip my hat to the crack team of White House economists who were able to discover--in just a few short days--that the U.S. is dependent on China for smartphones, computers and semiconductors.

Israeli protesters held photos of Palestinian children killed in Gaza by Israeli airstrikes during a demonstration in Tel Aviv—a powerful act reminding the world that humanity must come first. H/t @ihabhassan.bsky.social

The White House. The actual White House. This is the attitude of every abuser, who is now fearful of the consequences of their abuse.

I was thinking about this Joe and Tracy anecdote from the supply chain crisis on gummy bears. Things are probably going to get really weird in a few weeks in unexpected ways:

Norway is facing a similar challenge to its long-term policy of remaining outside the EU as Finland and Sweden did with their stance on NATO, writes @alanderminna.bsky.social.

Trump's critics have been proven right. The deranged people are his current and former fans - particularly gaslighting charlatans like Hannan, who falsely pretends that he's always opposed Trump.

The greatest trick the Devil actually ever pulled.
