Fictional villains: my motivation involves a complex backstory around lost love and a deep yearning to be understood Real life villains: being cruel makes me feel like a big strong man

YEEEEEEES

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

Yesterday I ate cașcaval flavored Lays (mild cheese; excellent Lays flavor) but I intend to also search for the paprika Lays (amazing), the hamburger Lays (horrifying), the chicken Lays (oddly delicious) and the PORK Lays, which I have not tried.

This guy gets it (in Cluj)

I am now in Romania (or as I'd say it in Romanian...sunt in Romania) and I have to say, it's nice to be eight hours ahead of everything at home

We're excited to share an excerpt from @pennyvixen.bsky.social's The Tomb of Dragons! The final book of the Cemeteries of Amalo trilogy, in the same world as The Goblin Emperor, arrives March 11th this year 🦴 reactormag.com/excerpts-the...

you know what, ngl, this style from rpattz (minus the hair) is basically how I want to look all the time, so I'm gonna have to find longer, bigger pants tomandlorenzo.com/wp-content/u...

Leaving for a three week trip tomorrow, and have I packed at all? No. No I have not.

i recently realized i'd never actually watched the phantom menace, so naturally my husband made me watch it and I think people reverse-overhyped this movie for me because it was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. except jar jar and the gungans. that was somehow worse than I anticipated.

I saw a video a couple days ago of a choir singing "I never thought the leopards would eat my face" and now it's what plays in my head whenever I look at the news

for Valentine's Day I made waffles and now he's playing Knights of the Old Republic and I'm drinking tea, so pretty much the perfect day

sometimes when i look at my phone i think about this article I read years ago about how so many products are designed with cis men in mind-- safety equipment, phones, cars, etc. aren't designed for smaller bodies, so at 6' I am experiencing v real Tall Privilege www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

in other news, I told the vet today that my dog was due for her "bortadella" vaccine (you know. like mortadella, the cold cut.) just a public service announcement that it's BORDETELLA

We have to do this differently this time around, and one of the ways I hope that we do that is by collectively understanding that people can care about two things at once (or even, gasp, MORE than two things) especially while people are out there banning books: TALK ABOUT BOOKS!

I think about The City & the City (China Mieville) a lot-- as I contend with the fact that some people are living in the same geographical area as me but are taking in different information (or perhaps the same information but interpreted wildly differently?). You should read it, if you haven't.

can't wait

i still remember a few years ago when there was a big blizzard sweeping across the nation and I got stuck in NYC and the entire city was SHUT DOWN (reasonably so), but I saw a report about Chicagoans doing business as usual but with different boots on, and I was like, ah, home

I have turned in the copyedits for To Clutch A Razor! Weird things I had to look up: what weeds grow in the Polish countryside, what Jagermeister tastes like (never tried it), how do you spell "vjesci" in Kashubian, and are there orb weaver spiders in Europe (sometimes you just gotta make sure)

Dear V, you don't need to modify "seizes" with "suddenly." The suddenness is implied.

my tip for authors doing copyedits is to start reviewing the ms close to the end and then work your way back to the beginning in sections. That way you don't get a super polished beginning and a less-polished end.
