And thank you!!! đŸ„č the fabric was all leftover scraps from a sewing project a while back! I love taking “trash” and turning it to treasure

Yep, good ol’ mod podge! I scratched up the surface of the metal tin first to ensure adhesion, and then slapped the fabric flowers on one at a time, then a final coat once that was dry for sealing c:

Three paint studies, two in cards and one in a book. Book image: ripples in a reflective puddle with leaves growing over top. Bottom left card: white flowers on a dark background cascading down, surrounded by lush foliage. Bottom right card: pink thicket of roses growing up towards a hazy blue sky

it IS scary to see anyone with a gun! it's disruptive! it can and will cause panic! but we constantly mistake the right wing as allowed to carry everywhere because they're assholes, but somehow exempt the left from 2A, so brand them all as potential mass shooters warranting lethal control

The reason Arthur Folasa Ah Loo is dead is not because a leftist brought a gun to a protest, it is because a person in a position of assumed authority understood the right to bear arms to be asymmetrical, and reacted to a threat not to public safety, but to class.

Tbh I’m probably overthinking things

I am, however, pragmatic, so we did a security audit and are upgrading certain things. I won’t let fear warp me, but I’m also not willing to give people opportunities to follow their worst impulses

It made me feel vulnerable, sure. But feeling the alarm, I had this, like, prophetic vision of a future where I let fear override my opinions of humanity completely, and thought, “If I don’t work through this *now,* this will warp me, and I don’t want to be driven by fear or hatred of humanity”

Thanks, I’m glad we’re ok, too! But I think that’s the thing, on reflection
. it WASN’T terrifying (for me), though I had to talk myself out of thinking it was- because we have really solid safety measures, and everyone was home- so nothing was taken, and no one got hurt.

ghost is non profit and open source and i don’t even see anyone even bring it up as an alternative :( (even here in the replies everyone mentions ko-fi if anything) i think goes to show how hard it is to even begin getting ppl aware of new platforms at all

A great example is in the Namibia UBI pilot where overall crime dropped by 43% but animal poaching dropped by 95%. Clearly, the illegal hunting of protected animals is not something 95% of people want to do. It's a crime of desperation. Eliminate desperation and those crimes practically vanish.
