@scully1888.bsky.social is the writer of The NES Encyclopedia, The SNES Encyclopedia, The Game Boy Encyclopedia, etc.
Here's my review of The N64 Encyclopedia:

I didn't expect my PSM post to become a (heated) discussion between two people I enjoy reading on Bluesky.

Magazine taglines: the "YouTube clickbaity titles" before YouTube was a thing.

It has unique track thumbnails that have some personality to them. If only more Mario Kart games could have this!

It's funny that this one tag line has stuck with me and my brother even after all these years. It's probably because of its incredulous arrogance. But I've never even read a page of PSM in my life, probably, aside from the scan of this cover.

My brother and I often reference Dark Cloud's aspirations to be a "Zelda Killer". He said that the other day when we were looking at some rain clouds.
Funny as that is, since Zelda is very much alive, the fact that anyone thought that probably means I should at least give the games a try to see why.

Here's my review of this book, if you want to see what it's about. I certainly like this!

PAL regions got Terranigma...
LOL, it's really good, but even so, that's not a fair trade for losing out on Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars, and others...

I remember reading about how the Super NES and Nintendo 64 (and maybe the GameCube?) were repeatedly delayed in development, and everyone kept on saying how "late" they were to reach the market.
But, looking at it now, it's like... they were surprisingly consistent. As if they were right on time.

Between the Wii launch & Just Dance 2020 is actually 12 years & 351 days, which means it's two weeks shy of 13!
What's funny is that, if not for the limited release of Shakedown Hawaii on the Wii U, its last game would've been Just Dance 2019.
The Wii could've outlasted the Wii U by a whole year!

The first one. Nintendo published the first game themselves in North America, to get people into RPGs, and when it didn't sell well, they gave it out for free to subscribers of Nintendo Power. So as a new subscriber, it was the start of my JRPG journey AND the enforcement of being a Nintendo fan.

Oh, I see. Cool, cool.
But yeah, the fact that I lived through all these generations makes me feel old too... almost like Grampa Simpson. >_<

Well, at least you didn't miss out on the golden age... the Super NES era is just perfect!
Especially if you like RPGs.
But that's not to say there isn't great stuff in later generations - there certainly is!
Hope you still had some chances to sample stuff, like when visiting friends, for instance.

Yes, the Tengen NES releases of Gauntlet, Pac-Man, & R.B.I. Baseball have official grey carts as well as unofficial black carts. The unofficial ones have gold on the left and bottom of the art. There's also Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, though the licensed version is published by Mindscape.

The main characters should have just dropped a single bulb of garlic, which would be enough to paralyze and kill Death. Vegetables are good, kids!

And then there was that one with no number or subtitle.

My brother's favourite part in the animated series.
At the time, we hadn't seen Pulp Fiction yet.

Pixels (2015), though not widely loved, at least has some cool visuals. I love the look of the pixels... or, voxels, rather.

677 is also one shy from TWICE as my X (/Twitter) follower count.
I guess I'm more popular here on Bluesky!

I know for sure the first two Mario Kart Arcade GP games have been emulatable pretty well, and for a while now. They use the Triforce arcade system board, which is very similar to GameCube hardware, so GameCube emulators are able to run them.
