Using webtech to reach beyond Health & Care silo/org boundary. Tackling the broader visibility, coordination, patient flow/delays & other quite troublesome things.

www.theguardian.com/society/2025... If only NHS had paid attention to our @thekingsfund.bsky.social publication on information disorganisation at the frontline in 2017. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/n3et3... @JKMVidimo @wesstreeting

Looking at some NHS stats over the weekend (as you do). patients remaining in hospital who no longer meet the criteria to reside, for Jan in particular - total of 418,129 which in short = delays days. www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/s...

#ICYMI No sign of winter pressures easing. A&Es bear the brunt of a gridlocked system. Hospitals are running dangerously close to capacity, thousands of people each day remain in hospital when they could go home and the system is grinding to a halt. Full article: rcem.ac.uk/no-sign-o...

ICYMI (from 5 years ago!) "We suggest that the challenges of reducing professional practice to task delivery, which nursing is currently facing, will begin to impact other professions, including doctors" Elaine Maxwell Alison Leary: In praise of professional judgment blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2020/05/...

An interesting podcast here www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... but would like to see the conversation expanded beyond clinical data and look at the broader operational & coordination aspects, to improve patient flow, whatever silos or care settings it may traverse.

#ICYMI New guidance fails to address how ‘national shame’ of corridor care and excessive A&E waits will be tackled. RCEM responds to the government’s ‘mandate for the NHS’ and NHSE planning guidance. Read the full news and President's statement: rcem.ac.uk/new-guida...

Time to fund General Practice For the cost of one A&E appt @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social can have 10 GP appts But even this maths is wrong because the current cost of a GP appt is £23 not £40 due to cuts in funding

Our take on the current set of problems across NHSE, ASC & DHSC Paraphrasing Larry Weed www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMsP... You can't look at the management of a single problem without knowing & understanding all the problems." problems with A&E & appts - look at all the flow problem as a whole.

An interesting exchange re LoS and DToC over tht past few weeks which we thought needs clarification. LoS (Length of Stay) is the total duration from Admt to Disch. Within LoS may be an element of delay. It’s vital to be able to view these delays in detail but currently, the focus remains on LoS...

We HAVE to stand up for NHS Whistleblowers - because one day this could be any of us…. we all know there is a long and illustrious history of the NHS forcing people out who stand up for patient safety.

McDonald's is overturning council attempts to prevent new fast food outlets by claiming they will encourage healthier lifestyles, reveals a BMJ investigation. It shows the firm has won planning appeals in some of the most deprived areas of England www.bmj.com/content/388/...

Innovation doesn’t always come from the biggest players. Sometimes, all it takes is a fresh perspective a good idea and a willingness or necessity to do things differently. Right NHS?

Folks writing local "access" plans to "save UEC" really need to read this. Even though you've been told before. Go pester someone with an HSJ subscription if you don't have one.

NHSE management processes are a dumpster fire: www.hsj.co.uk/daily-insigh...

Long waits in A&E kill patients. Maybe a thousand every month. The recent ONS analysis has issues but makes the problem look worse than previous analyses: www.hsj.co.uk/daily-insigh...

I'll get to the Digital Government blueprint, for now enjoy this podcast the day after publication of the UK AI Opportunities Action Plan. It's a wide ranging conversation & on top of that be entertained by my wild hand gestures, fidgeting & inability to maintain eye contact youtu.be/8ykoxDSM75g

The ONS have a new analysis of how long waits in A&E cause excess deaths. This is what the raw data looks like: for more detail of their work with charts see policyskeptic.blogspot.com/2025/01/maki...
