If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

The Trump admin has just detained Mohsen Mahdawi, who: –has green card –was Columbia Buddhist club president –saw his best friend shot & killed by Israeli soldier –said "we are against antisemitism because antisemitism is a form of injustice, and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"

I seem to remember when people who said electing Trump will bring about camps were labeled hysterics by the august editorial boards of America.

would be great if they could remember the passcode. Dementia *sucks*.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

They violated a court order to keep the AP out of the event where they publicly violated a different court order

What we all just witnessed had all the earmarks of a criminal conspiracy to deprive Abrego-Garcia of his constitutional rights, as well as an impeachable offense. The fraud scheme was a phony agreement engineered by the US to have Bukele say he lacks power to return Abrego Garcia and he won't do it.

I wonder how the Supreme Court feels about granting Donald Trump immunity for official acts now that one of those official acts is telling the Supreme Court to shove their ruling and fuck the fuck off.

This is the list of demands the Trump administration sent to Harvard to avoid having its federal research grants cut off, which Harvard has rejected. www.harvard.edu/research-fun...

I think the Ozturk case suggests that 1) yes, Canary is being used to ID students for deportation 2) someone in State is OVERRIDING evidentiary analyses (like the one WaPo reports that said there was no evidence against Ozturk) to sustain Canary "conclusions."

1) The presser with Bukele with theater designed to get credulous journos to repeat the "terrorism" claim w/o question. Remember: THESE VERY SAME PEOPLE freed adjudged Jan6 terrorists on Day One. 2) The WAY in which they flouted courts provides more surface area (bc this was not classified).

I guess Xinis has cause to bring Stephen Miller into court to explain all this. Remember, Abrego Garcia's first ask was for the US to stop paying El Salvador.

More than half of my daily work since 2006 has been helping people fight removal to El Salvador. I am now trying to get my head around a possible future--which seems to be quickly coming into view--in which I will have to retain an attorney for exactly the same purpose

I view this as two things: 1) Let's not keep the eye off the ball; they are defying a court order with the cooperation of Bukele, who's pretending he's some kind of smol bean with no power here 2) They're using that defiance to flirt with much, much worse things, only in part to distract from 1).

"Democrats don’t need to pretend that Trumpworld’s purported concern with corruption is in good faith; they don’t need to mutter about how of course they are opposed to government waste. The record of the right is clear: Fascists are corrupt liars."

Fascists speak in emotion, not facts. I see people disputing this utter nonsense as if it’s a fact claim, and correction will counter it. But it’s communicating “don’t you love cruelty to brown people? Isn’t hurting this innocent man thrilling? You’re a victim, so you’re entitled to feel that way.”

MILLER: “A DOJ lawyer, who has since been relieved of duty, a saboteur, a Democrat, put into a filing that this was a mistaken removal. It was not.” Astonishing stuff — DOJ conceded even to SCOTUS that the deportation was “administrative error.” Is Trump’s Solicitor General also a saboteur?

This meets @schumer.senate.gov's test of "defying the Supreme Court." SCOTUS unanimously held Abrego Garcia "was subject to a withholding order forbidding his removal to El Salvador, and that the removal to El Salvador was therefore illegal." But Trump admin says right person, right place.

It's not being talked about enough that the Trump administration is actively committing hundred of counts of crimes against humanity and bragging about it on television

Donald Trump, on the campaign trail: "Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after we win the presidency, I will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled" Donald Trump, five months after election day: "I just got here"

Wow a literal “how DO you do it?” Nice. #TodayInPyongyang 🇺🇸

It’s amazing how often Trump says he doesn’t know what’s happening in the country and it’s treated as totally normal.

Trump: "We've had women. But we've never had three of them right here. Do you guys feel a little bit mistreated? That's good. I like that. I've been very advanced in that regard too."

COLLINS: You said that if SCOTUS said someone needed to be returned you would abide by that. You said that on Air Force One just a few days ago TRUMP: Why don't you just say, 'isn't it wonderful that we're keeping criminals out of our country?' That's why nobody watches you anymore.

Trump: "I took my cognitive exam as part of my physical exam, and I got the highest mark, and one of the doctors said, 'Sir, I've never seen anybody get that kind of -- that was the highest mark.'"

Trump says he'd like to deport US citizens to El Salvador: "I'd like to go a step further. I don't know what the laws are, we always have to obey the laws, but we also have homegrown criminals that push people into subways... I'd like to include them in the group of people to get out of the country"

The president is conducting a press event with the primary purpose of flouting the decisions of the courts and the letter and spirit of U.S. law. It is a press event to celebrate the Constitutional crisis and serial violation of human rights he has set in motion.

Trump is defying court orders … and we are seeing there is nothing to stop him

REPORTER: You mentioned you're open to deporting individuals that aren't foreign aliens but aren't criminal to El Salvador. Does that include US citizens? TRUMP: If they are criminals and hit people with baseball bats, if they rape 87 year old women, yeah. Yeah. That includes them. I'm all for it.

Trump full-on accusing Zelensky of starting the war Russia launched against Ukraine in 2014, before Zelensky was even president, and escalated in 2022 with it unprovoked, full-blown invasion. Not a single criticism toward Putin, a day after the deadliest single attack of the war by Russia this year.

The most revolting Oval Office presser since Feb. 28 (the Zelensky one). Even just hitting a few of the lowlights of this will leave you sickened and dismayed. BUT it's also clarifying. Anyone who has been talking about "the road to authoritarianism" can stop that now. The road is behind us.

He’s not a fucking terrorist which they don’t even pretend he is

They did.

Got some unwelcome news at the dentist, so drowned my sorrows with one of the city's best lunches.

Trump admin officials who have conceded that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was erroneously removed to El Salvador: 1. Solicitor General John Sauer, in a filing at SCOTUS 2. ICE official Robert Cerna, in a sworn declaration 3. DOJ lawyer Erez Reuveni, in court filings and at a hearing

The man who set Josh Shapiro's house on fire also talked about killing Joe Biden. But it's not clear what his politics are.

If you think you're the only non-fascist at the fascist conference, you've fundamentally misunderstood the situation. Hint: Your mistake is not that you've failed to spot other non-fascists.

This is a real story that popped up on my timeline. I am simply stunned. Imagine having to tell someone to meet you at the Lickinghole in fucking Goochland. What, is it right down the road from Taintville? I'm making it a point to go here. I need this experience and at least a T-shirt or something.

A 14-year-old American boy and his two friends were gunned down by Israeli soldiers Sunday night. Their largely American village in the West Bank is wondering why Trump and the U.S. government have said so little about the killing of one of its citizens.

I looked this guy up on linkedin and he's been at the SSA for 26 years. worked his way up from IT grunt to associate commissioner

In retrospect, it continues to seem like a really bad decision by the New York Times to push out Paul Krugman, their longtime columnist who won his Nobel Prize in the economics of trade and geography right before we have 4 years where trade policy is the #1 crisis in the country.

Those are called delirium tremens, sir

Nothing to see here but Florida's royal family laundering public funds into the royal family's campaign slush fund. www.tampabay.com/news/florida...

This is to the shame of our country

I hate to be that guy, but this is the five-alarm fire, and every elected Democrat and frankly, every Washington reporter should be ringing the bell. If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone. Nobody with a voice should give this administration a moment’s peace about it.
