I’m sorry but I hope her daughter cuts her completely off and, if she has grandchildren, they grow up without her malign influence

Yes. You can’t apply principles of commercial law to international agreements

We also had the draft hanging over our head (young white men) or were subjected to obvious overt discrimination (women and minorities). Until social issues become personal it will be hard to get to the numbers protesting necessary to effect change.

You’re an optimist 😎

The poorest person on earth is closer to being as wealthy as Mark Cuban than Mark Cuban is to Elon Musk
comment in response to post
Yes, because it will only matter if the protests get big enough that they have to call the military out to shoot people. We’ll probably just let Trump be king anyway

It was a joke. There are red headed people. *I’m pretty close to leaving BlueSky because there seem to be a majority of people who waste their time criticizing Democrats but never Republicans, want to “fight” without the slightest suggestion of what that means and have no sense of humor

There are no redheads. Only blondes and brunettes

It took me a couple of days but I get a GNP for Greater Canada of between $17.7 and $19.5 trillion per year, slightly larger than China’s. Magastan, powered by Texas, Florida and Georgia is third at about two thirds the GNP of Greater Canada and China. I like Greater Canada’s prospects, though.

Doesn’t matter who they’re talking to; they only care who they are talking at

You can’t remove federal legislators in any state
comment in response to post
Please stop with this. You can’t recall federal legislators. We don’t need to promote ideas that are impossible
comment in response to post
You can’t recall Senators or Representatives. That’s a remedy that exists under state law in some states. Not at all in federal law.

If Trump is smart (ok, ridiculous idea, but his handlers might be), he’ll try to keep the military out of it. The other federal police (ICE, Homeland Security, etc.) plus the militias ought to be sufficient. The military is a bit of a wildcard

There’s always some resistance but whether it’s at all effective is an issue

I barely have time to lightly vet the followers I get just by being active. I don’t know what I would do with more

I am afraid you are only realistic but it’s hard to give up all hope

True. But Spain and Portugal became democracies after their fascistic leaders died. Trump is old and not healthy. But on the other hand, it’s hard to know what would have happened if the Allies hadn’t won

Germany rebuilt after Hitler; Italy after Mussolini; Spain after Franco; etc. Sooner or later the United States will be back
comment in response to post
Yes it is. I don’t know the answer, although the betting odds are on “bad”. I do believe the old order is irretrievably broken. After the first, relatively mild, Trump presidency, we tried go back to the old order. It was a terrible failure and led to where we are today
comment in response to post
The old order is broken and gone. Some new order, good or bad, will emerge

Eventually, although a lot of us will go into hiding before then and, if you don’t fall into another category they’re after, may be forgotten about

Trump will try to purge and high ranking officers he thinks may not be loyal to him first.

Greater Canada would the world’s most powerful and richest country!

Even this isn’t ambitious enough. Utah becomes a self-governing protectorate foreign affairs managed by New Canada but no federal voting rights. Virginia joins; maybe North Carolina. Ohio and Indiana are taken as necessary transportation corridors but no voting rights until they become civilized

George, your old enough to avoid the penalty, take the tax hit and liquidate the IRA. Move it to an account in Europe. The way things are going you may have to flee and better not to be penniless. IMHO
comment in response to post
On the EU bank accounts are insured up to €100,000 per person in each bank. So if you’re a couple with €600,000 you’d need to use three different banks, or at least that’s my understanding

If there is a US-Russia Alliance, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Europe-China Alliance. It would be powerful enough to destroy Russia and force the US into a humiliating peace.

My understanding is that it’s not so much difficult, since the Governor sits as both judge and jury on the matter, but painful because Adams much be given a hearing and the right to call as many witnesses as he wishes

The study says you need 12mm people in the streets. It has been done at one time: Earth Day, April 22, 1970. But it doesn’t mean participation in a boycott because the number has to be large enough and visible enough to discourage action by the police and military
