Just bums me out when I get an update from someone I admire saying, "Great news! I'm going to Substack!" I mean, why. I get that some people joined a few years ago and are now trapped. But why join Substack now when there are way better alternatives?

Hey A16Z, I've found a great candidate for you: www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

I know it’s not the point but this kerning situation has ended me

Strange that significant elements of Australia’s artistic and political elite were more vociferous in defending Bill Henson’s photos of naked children than Khaled Sabsabi’s art.

Real Frontline shit

This by Jacquelin Magnay on Sam Kerr is just disgusting shit.

the major parties have seen their primary votes fall from 96% in 1975 to 68% in 2022. they had two options to arrest the decline: 1. win back trust with good governance & good policy 2. rig the system tonight they chose to rig the system. a dark day for australian democracy.

(Don’t react don’t react don’t react) Who cares about straws, are you fucking three.

Shopify executives are vocally opposing the Canadian government — and now they’re being openly praised by the Conservative Party leader. They’re trying to extend Silicon Valley’s right-wing project to Canada — and need to be stopped.

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

Le Pupille is a perfect film - a jewel. 39 minutes! More films should be 39 minutes. youtu.be/yxZ_xOx3-ow?...

This is what not having a job looks like (today). It’s nice.

Gotta get me one of these tees www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Shout out to fine people of Brunswick for finally ridding the suburb of this thing. What a difference a few days can make

"Aust’s superannuation is a broken system that works to give the richest 10% over $20bn a year in tax breaks, while nearly 1 in 4 retirees live in poverty due to the miserable level of the age pension." "It is beyond absurd." - @grogsgamut.bsky.social #auspol www.theguardian.com/business/gro...

Fairfax has done three stories this week about Melbourne’s elite private clubs. What is happening over there.

Hey, couple notes on your post. Personally I think it's fine. Totally get it. But someone I imagined, in my head, might not like it. They haven't seen it yet but I'm just saying, if they did. They might freak out a little bit. Anyway take it down or I'm calling the cops

as the rollercoaster crests the top of the initial incline, the ratcheting noise slows and stops, and you can, right before the plunge, observe the entire amusement park

A few things that are characterized as insanely woke which I think are also sort of obvious and entirely supported by basic examination of factual evidence: * that women deserve to be treated with respect, to have equal rights and those rights include rights over their bodies

Siri notification summaries are the most dogshit feature Apple has ever released. I’ve received two different messages where it’s got the meaning of “positive” wrong in the context of a cancer diagnosis (one in each direction).
