Ottawa sportif dad. Why visegripmikey? I once volunteered at a bike shop when I was 14 and ended up mashing a titanium bolt with a pair of vise grips. Moniker by the master mechanic stuck!

Curious to know, have barriers to voting been studied? I find it hard to believe that less than 50% of eligible voters get to control who the other 50% get to be governed by.

Let’s protect Ontario’s bike lanes in this provincial election. Call on all parties to #ReverseBill212! @GreenpeaceCA act.gp/3WLGdrw

FUCKEN’ EH!!!!

Got to start cosplaying as drivers to get cycling infrastructure installed. Point out to councillors how much room there is for a protected bike lane. How without protection it frightens you to pass them. Keep it going…

Cities Start to Backpedal on Bike Lanes: A Growing Crisis for Cyclists. momentummag.com/cities-start...

No way to ride my bicycle to work today (conditions were just couple of inches too much snow) so I relied on Ottawa’s public transportation and… it worked! Autowa was definitely not working downtown. Bumper to bumper traffic.

Here is Why Governments Paying People to Bike to Work Makes Sense. momentummag.com/here-is-why-...

Cycling helps fight climate change and makes cities more livable. More profoundly, people who cycle regularly are more oriented toward the common good. Cars turn people into sociopaths; bikes reverse that.

To the companies in the US that are already looking to move due to climate change risk, take advantage of the tariff threat to move to Canada. The raw materials are here already.

If you drive in winter, the most pro-social thing you can do is just have patience. Slow down. Wait for pedestrians. Wait for cyclists. Park farther away and walk if you need to in order to keep bike lanes and bus stops and crosswalks clear. You’re in a mobile living room, you’ll be fine.

I didn’t ride my bike to work in the snow today. In fact, I planned not to 3 days ago. I have a habit of looking ahead at the weather for the week. Why? It wasn’t the amount of snow, but because the city hasn’t bought the equipment or strategized the methods for effectively clearing the snow.

It's not just scientists & environmental groups warning of the imminent dangers of unchecked climate & nature breakdown 🧵 1️⃣ International consultants Deloitte say that over 50 years: ❌ Continued inaction will cost the world $178 trillion ✅ Accelerating net zero will deliver a $43 trillion benefit.

Following fellow winter cyclists, leading by example.

Dear Canada, my Canada Have you noticed how good looking you are? Vast natural untamed spaces. Ripe fields, fresh rivers and lakes, and forests teeming with life. Abundant with the beating hearts of all kinds of animals.

Sometimes I wonder, of all the motorists I pass while bicycling to work, do some see me and think to themselves, “I want to ride a bike to work too”. How many think if only there was more time, or if only there was a protected bike lane where they rode.

Any gen-x who hopes to live to 90 yrs old has a whole lot of climate change to deal with; and only a decade or so before we hope to retire to enact anything effective.

“A heart full of hate has no room for love” As a cyclist I often encounter dangerous drivers. I have built up so much resentment towards them that it has turned parts of my soul dark. This was an important reminder to focus on what is good in life. Be well friends hiddenbrain.org/podcast/no-h...

Use cars less, buy less cars, buy less plastic, ask for packaging without plastic, use less plastic.
