Thanks to @vjrp.bsky.social for sharing her experience with what is on the minds of so many researchers who rely on NIH funding www.science.org/content/arti...

My friend @vjrp.bsky.social wrote this feature for Science on the current state of funding and its impact on early career scholars! www.science.org/content/arti...

"Even NIH officers don’t know what will happen next." In our latest @science.org Working Life essay, an assistant professor expresses frustration with stalls at NIH and asks: "Will my grants ever be reviewed?" @vjrp.bsky.social www.science.org/content/arti...

In my latest article for @science.org, I reflect on the current challenges faced by early-career researchers, including delays in grant reviews, uncertainty around NIH funding freezes and changes, and the critical need for continued support and advocacy. www.science.org/content/arti...

Gutting Medicaid, which many rely on for maternity care and to pay for the NICU (birth weight < 1,200 g), is the most anti fetus, anti-newborn legislation possible.

Happy to report that APA wrote this letter, gathered a coalition across science, and will now pay for ads for it to be disseminated in Science and Chronicle of Higher Ed to spread the word!! unitedsciencealliance.org

I removed the ID of the posters but at what point do we have a moral imperative here? I would not want to participate in a process that explicitly discriminated against minorities. If the applications aren’t reviewed they are basically rejected no? Pull out of the reviews.

Was anyone else’s NIH application up for review today and now showing blank after this email? Trying to figure out if this is just a review delay or yet another case of casual viewpoint suppression!

Check out our study using machine learning to help determine when self-reported ADHD symptoms are no longer valid. Our goal was to show how technology and advanced algorithmic approaches can bolster (not replace) current neuropsych methods. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Our new study explores gut microbiota, gender-affirming hormone therapy, & inflammatory markers in transgender women with HIV. Findings show potential cardiovascular risks.💊 Read more: www.liebertpub.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Why should the public care about the freeze on the NIH? Aside from the need for scientific pursuits to make our society better… -For every dollar we invest in NIH research, there is a $2.5 return. -Research dollars help fund universities that employ non-academics. (1/)

Nothing like reviewer comments on your global health paper that are 90% about formatting and style to remind you they probably aren’t experts on the topic. But sure, I’ll move that sentence to a table. And sure I’ll round percentages!

Grateful to have my personal essay featured among Science’s Top Working Life Essays of 2024! Read more about my essay and other top essays of the year here: www.science.org/content/arti... #WritingCommunity #ScienceCareers

Excited to share our latest publication, co-authored with John-Christopher A. Finley, Anthony D. Robinson, and Jason R. Soble. Our study explores how machine learning can enhance the detection of noncredible cognitive test performance. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

🚨Exciting postdoc opportunity!🚨 Applications are now open for the Susan Nolen-Hoeksema postdoctoral fellowship at Yale. More information & application: apply.interfolio.com/160599 Please share widely!

Thank you, American Psychological Foundation, for supporting research that centers LGBTQIA+ families! Grateful for the opportunity to deepen our understanding of these unique parenting experiences and to amplify voices often left out of the conversation. #Parenting

I received an RR with four reviewers on the last day of classes, due January 2.

Groundbreaking concept here: if you’re unsure about someone’s gender, you could just use THEY. ✨Rare and magical gift of the English language. No need to misgender someone in an NIH summary statement.

Grateful for the amazing HEAL Lab team and our holiday dinner. Can’t believe it’s grown to 10 people already! Your dedication and energy make everything we do possible—cheers to all of you and an exciting year ahead! 🎄✨ #UIUC

The chronic need to be civil is very much a feature of white supremacy culture and a tool of control.

America: a country where white men can still kill unarmed Black people and walk away without accountability. apnews.com/article/dani...

The implication here I guess is that cops should be free to do their jobs however they want or else? Imagine if the headline was “after a medical malpractice suit, ER doctors stopped saving lives.”

Grateful for the opportunity to share my work on discrimination, parenting, and family health disparities at today’s #BSMinar! Huge thanks to @grandner.bsky.social for the kind invitation and to everyone who joined the conversation.

RESCHEDULED! Join me tomorrow 12/5 @ 9am AZ time (8am PT / 11am ET) for the next #BSMinar! @vjrp.bsky.social Violeta Rodriguez will present: "Unpacking the Intersection of Discrimination, Parenting, and Family Health Disparities" Free CME! Info/signup: seminar.sleephealthresearch.com

🚨 Calling all Developmental Psychologists! Do you have an idea for a presentation at APA’s 2025 annual convention? We want to hear it! Submit a proposal: convention.apa.org/proposals Deadline is January 8, 2025 by 5PM ET. @santimoralesphd.bsky.social and I are open to any questions!

If you are an early career researcher studying diversity-related topics, have a look at the CASBS Summer Institute on Diversity fellowship! Applications are due on Dec 12. Work on your future research lines, receive mentorship, and meet likeminded scholars. 🙏🏽 casbs.stanford.edu/call-applica...

I am so proud to announce I have been named to the 2025 @forbes.com 30 Under 30 list in Healthcare! I never could have imagined my dream to empower my community would bring me here. To my husband, family, friends, and community—thank you. This achievement is OURS. #ForbesUnder30

May the year of 2025 be the time when the gospel of Cole and Maxwell (2003) and Maxwell and Cole (2007) finally sink in and I no longer have to review, handle, or hear about papers with cross sectional mediations… or maybe we will have a breakthrough in metaphysics proving instantaneous causation.

"Race did not appear to influence the typical first step of the review process [dept. vote]... [but]...when the college committees were evaluating faculty with lower h-indices, evidence of bias against Black & Hispanic scholars surfaced - especially for women" 1/ www.science.org/content/arti...

Lotta people talking about the left's duty to stay on Twitter. Very few people talking about the left's duty to cite my papers. Make it make sense.

Connect with folks through this LGBTQ Youth & Families Research starter pack. Happy to add others who are here! go.bsky.app/M2dCSHy

Trying to find the Latinx psych folks here… LMK if you want to be added. go.bsky.app/77ZBUCn

I hadn't seen a Relationship Science starter pack so I made one. Please suggest additions or let me know if you have been unfairly tarred with a relationship science brush. go.bsky.app/CyN3fkq

I took a shot at a Starter Pack of people actively involved in both clinical research AND practice. If this is you & you'd like to be added, let me know! go.bsky.app/5HTmjE3
