„The Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit organization that studies the federal work force, has used budget figures to produce a rough estimate that firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers will cost upward of $135 billion this fiscal year“

When I look back on my now over 12 year career in public health, several projects stand out as the most impactful. And I just found out the entire CDC team I worked with on those projects was Rif’ed.

This is great . . . It’s just not on my top 200 list, so okay 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wasn’t this the disinformation they traced all the way back to Russian bots in the early days of the pandemic before the vaccine even was deployed?

Soooo many questions. Who carries $3000 in cash ever, let alone in DC? That is sketchy by itself. How did they get close enough to her purse to grab it? How did she not notice?

In agency after agency, the government is losing its capacity to measure how American society is functioning www.propublica.org/article/trum...

Spring break 2025 - buckle up for more measles cases buttercup.

These incentives save homeowners money and keep our power grids from collapsing. Electric companies are in the business of not overloading their systems - their customers don’t pay them if the power doesn’t work.

💔

As spring break arrives we have passed 700 confirmed cases and in reality we know it’s much greater than that. I hope our contact tracing, vaccines, and masks are strong. wjla.com/news/local/m...

I am eternally enamored with this story. amateurphotographer.com/book_reviews...

Unfortunately crucially necessary.

I keep looking around like someone is going to fix this, like I have for the last five years, and then realize - it’s just us.

‘My concern is this does become a new normal’ -- U.S. may be reverting to a time when #measles deaths were not very rare, experts warn, by @helenbranswell.bsky.social www.statnews.com/2025/04/06/m... via @statnews.com #pediatrics #vaccination

I’m not sure if we have any general case estimates, but it certain at this time we have not captured all cases. And similarly to many other serious illnesses, surviving the initial infection is not the end for many.

Two deaths from measles and this outbreak is raging out of control. If this were a forest fire we would see response teams leaping in from all sides, but instead this fire continues to engulf these towns.

The pandemic unexpectantly led to some rapid advancements in science, and to claw that back now will mean to stop these breakthroughs right on the cusp of changing our world. news.northwestern.edu/stories/2025...

Could not be more grateful to the legal teams who laid out the importance of public health so deliberately, thoughtfully, and clearly today. We have a lot to learn from their model of communication and clarity. Proud to be on team Maryland. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/03/u...

22 states and the District of Columbia filed a lawsuit today against US Health and Human Services regarding the immediate grant termination d ent out on Tuesday, March 25, with an effective date of Monday, March 24 and an unprecedented 30-day close out. ag.ny.gov/sites/defaul...

Why is public hammered for wanting to prevent infant deaths. Pertussis vaccination at pregnancy is a way for mom to pass on her natural antibodies to baby. It is safe and effective.

This is quite the pitch.

Every time I lay down in bed and can breath because I have just thrice vacuumed and washed everything in the room on hot, and I think about how some people just walk around like this all the time!!!! 😫 #allergies

You don’t get to scream “state rights” and “don’t tread on me” when Biden is president and now say Trump can strong arm a state over a handful of teenagers. You will be held to this precedent later.

Seems like a real stand up guy. Shouldn’t we as a society be more concerned about child abusers, particularly repeat offenders, than drag queens reading books? 🧐 people.com/man-previous...

The tiny bit of money going to this county for this measles outbreak will return billions in prevention of measles cases.

Super cool website that will show you how much the health research cuts will cost your state (or county!) For Indiana this will cost $193 million and 832 jobs This seems bad

I don’t think I can possibly express the level of exhaustion I feel down to my bones. I don’t see how state public health will have time to perform actual state public health duties if all we do is respond to sweeping federal changes.
