The disinformation came from local govt. Who were trying to cover up due to their lack of being prepared for it. Trump didnt make it up he merly is citing what the was given by the administration Ricardo Rosselló. That is critical bec too many downplay their role in this mess

I'm well aware why do you think they threw them out. but the way you're writing it makes it look like he came up with the death total not the govt of puerto rico. More of the blame should be on local govt. People outside of pr put it all on trump

It's because the puerto rican revolutionary committee was a subdivision of the Cuban revolutionary committee. When the Cubans made their flag the puerto ricans used it as a frame for theirs. It's also because of a line in a poem by puerto rican poet Lola Rodríguez de Tió.

Besides the fact that my blue sky profile pic is a famed puerto rican abolitionist and independence advocate.

Nope Puerto Rico's lack of food sovereignty US destroyed agricultural industry during operation bootstrap. High cost of living US shipping monopoly imposed do the Jones act rampant corruption in local politicians. US federal funding with lack of proper oversight incentivizes corruption. I can go on
comment in response to
post
No statehooders don't have any real plans. The entire economic idea is drag America for federal funding and hope that fixes everything. If they had a real plan they would have called one ages ago.
comment in response to
post
The problem with that is the shipping lobby's in the us are near impossible to beat and the economic report on the impact of statehood is disasterous
comment in response to
post
There's no reason for them to choose statehood. All Puerto Rico's problems exist largely because of the connection to the United States
comment in response to
post
And second because they would actually have to draft a proposal on statehood and they have no idea how to do that because Statehood advocates have no plan they only run on vague promises and never explicitly go into detail on how they transition pr to a state or an economic plan
comment in response to
post
Puerto rican stately party the new progressive party opposes this process because simply put it allows the other parties to have their voice and oversight on the process meeting they can't pull anything to try to tip the balance to statehood
comment in response to
post
Once they draft their proposals then they would go out in the public and campaign on behalf of their proposals. After a lengthy campaign period then and only then will a referendum be called to decide for Rico's future.
comment in response to
post
These delegates would then draft a proposal dictating their plans for Puerto Rico going forward and how everything would work in relationship with the United States. And when I mean everything I mean everything economics citizenship transition period
comment in response to
post
What Puerto Rico needs is not another vote but a constitutional status assembly. Under the process of a constitutional status assembly each camp would elect delegates. But independence for association statehood and enhanced Commonwealth
comment in response to
post
The referendums are jokes that nobody takes seriously in Puerto Rico. They merely serve to inflate the votes of the statehood party because they've been Largely responsible for the economic decline of Puerto Rico and have done nothing to fix it so the distract their voters they dangle this crap

And then 2024 they once again defied Congress's orders and removed status quo off the ballot resulting in 14% protesting the ballot and we can confirm that the protest ballots happened in the highest percentage in regions where the statehood party performed poorly.
