One way you can help your national parks is by joining the National Park Foundation. You can also volunteer at many of the parks. And you can express your support of parks for ourselves and our posterity to your federal elected officials.

Some very good suggestions in here.

If the federal government tries to buy our compliance with checks, that money needs to be donated to people and groups fighting to save our Constitution and the American values it embodies. Pro-Constitution candidates, NGOs and others could use that money to defend America.

I know this sort of thing isn’t politically correct in 2025 America, but I think Michael Jordan’s efforts with these clinics would be tough to criticize while maintaining even a modicum of human decency.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Never put more time or effort into someone’s opinion than they did. If they don’t think it’s worth it, neither should you.

Another good conversation courtesy of the National Constitution Center. One of the key points is how the weakness of Congress has allowed - and even helped create - the problems with executive overreach. I’ll be quoting some of this in my next letter to my congressman

“Trump plays a strongman on television, and he is a talented performer. But the strength consists solely of the submissiveness of his audience.”

Words escape me. Civil ones, at least.

The portrayal of a US President as a king perfectly illustrates my assertions about the counter-Revolution, anti-Constitution (I.e., anti-American) element currently infecting America. Our founders risked everything to fight a war to free us from monarchy. The disrespect for that is unforgivable.

I’ll be writing more about this shortly, and include a sample letter to my Congressman, but we need to squeeze our representatives about their own budgets (MRAs). If they are okay with important gov’t agencies having staff and budgets slashed, then we should demand they do the same.

New "Osterholm Update" podcast episode! @mtosterholm & @cvdall discuss RFK Jr's confirmation as HHS secretary, recent CDC & NIH layoffs, and a new Louisiana vaccine policy. They also cover seasonal and H5N1 flu activity and a measles outbreak in Texas www.cidrap.umn.edu/c...

I received this email from Social Security today. Yup, we’re being scammed.

Losing weight by amputating a leg” used to be taught as the cautionary adage, “Cutting off your nose to spite your face.” I’ve been working on an essay, for some time, that addresses how these adages used to be common and helped us not do stupid things.

I think the premise of this article — that we need former presidents to critique a current administration — s mistaken. What we need is for them to honor their oath to defend the Constitution, and lead a unified resistance to the intentional destruction of American values and law.

I have to report an inaccuracy to Google Maps. The body of water off the west coast of Florida should be labeled “The Gulf of Russia’s Bitch.”

US Senator Roger Wicker, head of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services, commented on the talks with Putin: "No, Putin cannot be trusted. Putin is a war criminal and should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed."

This is a great point: “the exploitation of the relatively fewer protections for probationary employees subverts the actual purpose of this part of the system: ensuring a competent federal workforce.”

Being a lay student of epidemiology and public health, I have trouble arguing with this move. Put all the people who would endanger America by refusing vaccinations and other basic public hygiene on the other side of the wall.

Only the best people.

The previous administration’s effort to track and contain H5N1 in US livestock was inept. But I guess not inept enough?

Read Oliver Darcy newsletter today for an astonishing expression of partisan malice by Trump FCC chair Brendan Carr. Americans are not used to public officials who behave in such demeaning and menacing ways ... but better to know the truth. www.status.news/p/brendan-ca...

This is a point I've been trying to push: Don't confuse your government with your constitutional republic. Remember your obligations as a citizen.

If we have the need to cut so much money from the federal budget, then we should probably abandon the idea of going to Mars, and cancel all contracts related to the project.

I attended a rally in NY’s 1st congressional district today with several friends (two of them fellow military veterans). There were hundreds of people there, and lots of support from passersby. It warmed my icy red, white, and blue heart.

The 119th Congress is at the next level of bootlicking. Meanwhile, they bury Constitution Day.

Spring is coming. Get ready to help the pollinators help you.

How do you avoid the repercussions of bad policy and corruption? Control the voting. It’s an old game with new tech. And the money and will to implement it.

Lack of US involvement in the upcoming WHO-led flu vaccine meeting could lead to less effective flu vaccines, experts fear. www.statnews.com/2025/02/13/w...

Graham was right about Trump and he was right about Gabbard. He’s just always on the wrong side at the end.

We need more people like Mike Osterholm, taking an honest, informed, nonpartisan stand against the attack on public health.

Well, this was photo was ahead of its time.

The world is making fun of America. Rightfully so, but it’s tough for those of us who believe in the nation’s foundational values.

Add it all up, and it almost appears as if the NIH cuts, the censorship, the board takeovers, and the threats to endowments are all part of a systematic effort to destroy the university and college system as we know it today…. Because they are: open.substack.com/pub/davidpep...

You know that depopulation conspiracy your crazy uncle likes to talk about? Hindering the work of USAID and the NIH, and appointing an anti-vaxxer to run the HHS makes him look less crazy. Or maybe just more hypocritical. 🤔

I know this is a bit nuanced for many contemporary American voters, but there’s a difference between self-improvement and suicide.

Nailed it 🏆

Much of the world is angry and disappointed they we are turning against our foundational values, which have been a positive force in human history. At least one woman in war-torn Ukraine feels sorry for us. I wish we had that luxury.

One of the weaknesses of the human brain is its susceptibility to the “out of sight, out of mind” issue. Especially in a population that’s naive regarding history, science, and other civic responsibilities.

Bernie Sanders: "They will use the enormous media operations they own to deflect attention away from the impact of their policies while they entertain us to death."
