Ok, I'm doing a version of this thread for 🧪 who are new to political conditions where info security is a safety issue: 1. Don't make public lists of people who are engaging in acts of resistance 2. Be weary of calls to advertise acts of subversion 3. Don't live post resistance meetings

Who would Captain America punch? The answer is clearer now than ever since WWII.

Real-life genre savvy but it's just Heinlein.

Yes, there's absolutely stuff that's important and admirable but that must never be spoken of on social media. (Wouldn't say even this much if the things I just learned about second-hand weren't 40+ years old.)

Three things are true: 1.This moment in the US calls for leadership that can communicate urgency and rally opposition. The opposition party (Democrats) should play a role in that. 2.With a few relatively-marginal exceptions, they're failing. 3.Focusing too much on that failure just compounds it.

In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.

I'm probably pissing in the wind, but I have little time off because of the holiday, so I'd like to offer a thread arguing against an ugly, ugly habit rising on Bluesky: Screenshots of articles without links. Stop it. Just fucking stop it.

Seeing your far enemies as a monolith isn't great strategy, but seeing your near enemies as a monolith is so much worse. Leftists who think "Democrats" or "liberals" are a uniform group... aren't the biggest problem, but still infuriating.

I think people disliked your article because its core argument is asinine! We're not upset about the mechanism by which Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico,we're upset because it is unilateral, absurd & racist. Authoritarians often use legal means for nefarious ends, we all know this. Why don't you?

As a political scientist who studies countries that managed to stop the slide into authoritarianism, I can assure you that ***refraining from provoking the authoritarian*** is not how it works. Without further ado, I will now go tear out another chunk of hair.

Don’t know if anyone else read the letter and caught that it contradicts the majority opinion in SFFA, which allows discussion of racial identities in essays to be used as a factor in admissions. They’re trying to rewrite an already very conservative SCOTUS opinion www.ed.gov/media/docume...

I believe this super strange looking mushroom is Gyromitra esculenta, though I'm not 100% sure of the species, but I'm confident it's in this genus. These are known as false morels. If you're an experienced morel hunter though, you know this isn't what you're looking for 🍄📷 📸🎞 🌿🌱 🟢 🍄 📷 🍄‍🟫

If suffering teaches any useful lessons, "who are your real friends" is one. Be a friend. United, we stand.

Good discussion about this from ch. 9: ‘Every organizer knows that person who is an activist who just talks and talks and talks and talks in a meeting, and you can tell that they’re emotionally downloading, and it’s really not organizing,” Wane said.’ www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1922-l...

I just added more things to this list today: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

This account is positioned to maybe know what it's talking about and this allegation is 100% plausible but I'd still rather see reporting on it before I believe fully.

I use LLM-based coding.* Never, ever let an LLM write an import statement for you. *(Is that irresponsible for climate impacts? A little but most of that is sunk costs. Despite bending over backwards to avoid flying I'm still worse on that.)

Amazon, McDonald’s, Target, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply and Walmart are all named in the advisory

In Ferguson, they swept phone data from the crowd, then later drove down streets and if there were 2 or more of those people in a house, they raided it.

These cross-endorsements and their absence constitute an increasingly important DV. www.stlpr.org/government-p...

hakeem jeffries' wife packing up to go stay at her parents because she asked him to wash the dishes and he stood in front of the sink throwing his hands in the air and saying "what can i do, the water isn't even on"

CDC source: “We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff. They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

It's probably true that Scalia in 2016 would have stood against Trump here, but a Scalia who'd lived until today wouldn't have. And that makes it worse!
