i think it's specifically based on scheme syntax but it's definitely not actually the scheme programming language
comment in response to

if you mean tree-sitter queries those just use sexpr syntax? i don't think they're turing-complete or otherwise lisp-based

(note that for the purposes of their policy any drive cross-flashed with BW-16D1HT firmware is considered a BW-16D1HT)
comment in response to
post
redump is very conservative with what drive models are allowed for CDs though, the benefit of making it slightly easier to source an approved drive is vastly outweighed by the risk of a bad dump. wiki.redump.org/index.php?ti... has more details on this
comment in response to
post
the Asus BW-16D1HT (and identical drives from other brands) has been the main recommended drive for most discs for a while and as of a couple weeks ago they're also allowed for audio CDs which were previously the exception

this account feels like the kind of thing where it's not really in anyone's job description but someone said "you should probably switch to bluesky" and whoever posts to it spent 15 minutes making an account in their free time
comment in response to
post
i have no idea who runs this account but i would be very unsurprised if it was the relnotes team and not the actual social/marketing team, the consumer-facing account is @firefox.com

but also it is patented sensel apparently found a loophole (and presumably spent quite a lot of money on lawyers regarding that loophole)
comment in response to
post
there's one company other than apple that makes haptic trackpads (sensel), they're tiny compared to elan/synaptic, and presumably very expensive based on seemingly only being in premium business machines (thinkpad x1 titanium, surface laptop studio, etc)

ime the modern reverse engineered drivers (panfrost etc) are realistically around on par with most vendor drivers, which is wildly embarrassing for the latter

intel is historically kind of both the worst and the best about this, because they very transparently consider software to be something they're reluctantly forced to produce, but also they actually understand that they do in fact have to produce it for the hardware to be useful.
comment in response to
post
my take is just that hardware companies are all organizationally disinterested in producing working software
