My 3rd Big Sur Marathon. Cold, rainy, and totally blissed out. Didn’t really train or have a goal time in mind, just wanted to enjoy the experience for what it was. Such an incredible event. Feeling grateful for my ability to drop into an epic race like this with relative ease.

~12 hours is plenty of time to recover from a rolled ankle before a marathon, right? 🫣

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard an album that felt so customized for my weird brain as the latest from @viagraboys.bsky.social. Paranoid ramblings that’d make Ween, Butthole Surfers and Queens of the Stone Age proud.

I love spotting hallucinations in my everyday use of Google. I don't even need to fact check this - I know there was no Chrono Trigger for Game Boy. This shit sucks. I promise I'm not sitting here hammering queries trying to find mistakes. Don't trust AI Overviews.

Wasn't familiar with this study. Thank you Redditor friend for teaching me.

CK5 working his magic at Bill Graham in SF last night 🐠 I believe this was during Ruby Waves.

These search results from ChatGPT contain blue text. Those are links, right? Nope - they're not clickable. It's just text that happens to be blue. What's the point of this? Even if it's a test, what would they be testing here? This is a pretty shitty UX, IMO.

SEO folks, how are y'all monitoring overall market share of Google vs competing AI search tools (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc)? I'd love to better understand (and keep an eye on) user adoption trends.

This country is becoming unrecognizable. What we’re seeing is state-funded fear. We’ve warned people: keep filming, go live on social media so these moments are documented and shared. This wasn’t a case involving masked ICE agents—but that’s happening too.

I love spring in Santa Cruz. Some recent shots from trail runs around Felton, Scotts Valley, and Castle Rock SP.

I feel it’s my duty to normalize the use of pronouns, and it’s hilarious how uncomfortable it seems to make some folks. Would it be outlandish to get mine tattooed on my forehead?

Finally cancelled Spotify Family Plan. I've been a paying member since early 2010s, will miss the convenience, but it feels good to "vote with my wallet" and stop supporting a platform promoting misinfo (Rogan) while screwing the actual artists. Parting gift is a sad puppy playlist... no thanks.

If you’re not brewing with 3rd wave water… are you REALLY a coffee snob?

Sitting in my car and questioning my decision to drive up to Castle Rock for a trail run. Certainly wasn’t expecting snow in the Santa Cruz mountains today! @nativesantacruz.bsky.social

www.publicsquare.com/marketplace PublicSquare describe themselves as the "anti-woke Amazon" (yikes) If you want to vote with your wallet, take a look at the local businesses listed on PublicSquare in your area and don't give them another dime.

On todays edition of "things that are not true", Google's AI Overviews fabricate details for a Phish music festival later this year. A search engine this big should not be spewing misinformation so often.

I would love to visit Sarajevo... sadly I think this was an April Fool's joke, as @thediscobiscuits.bsky.social deleted it shortly after posting. I don't understand how this qualifies as a gag or joke -- where's the punchline?

Some AI anti-hype for your Monday morning.

After a 3 hour trail race this morning, this is just what the doctor ordered 👌

This makes me so happy.

I love metal covers of non-metal songs. There are a lot of good ones out there. This one is fantastic. music.apple.com/us/album/mes...

Well wow. With just 3 precincts left, Dem James Malone is up by 800 votes in PA's #SD36. This is looking like an astonishing Dem flip in a Trump+15 seat, per our calculations. electionresults.lancastercountypa.gov/results/publ...

I am simultaneously shocked and not at all surprised that this happened. I'm trying to limit my intake of political stuff. If you're in the same boat, I'd say this article is worth a read.

I suppose you can't call a National Monument a "hidden gem", but Fort Ord is an interesting spot, and seems to get overlooked as a running destination. It's a great place to knock out some road miles, as most of the roads are closed to cars. Just watch out for landmines.
