As someone who always wants to like anime more than I actually do when I watch it, I recommend Samurai Champloo. It's really good combination of storytelling, style, and sound design

Exactly what I was thinking as I bellied up to the bar for last call

To misquote Citizen Kane - "Loosing a lot of money is easy, if all you want to do is lose money."

My son and road tripped to Lambeau for a Lions game 2 years back. Stayed a night in Chicago and took him to Kumiko at your recommendation. It did not disappoint. My other kids have complained so loudly about missing out on that meal that I'm forced to take them this summer

Strange that they don't go back far enough to show any other republican presidents. It's almost as if Trump is the outlier, not the party affiliation

‘A’ greatest day I’m sure that was intentional

You already know this, but it’s the “I’m gristle” that got my like (and my unexpected laugh)

Great to see Teddy Schleifer on your podcasts. You guys were two of my favorites at puck so hopefully you do more work with him!

In a sane world, "move fast and break things" and "National Nuclear Security Administration" probably should not be in the same sentence.

I almost went with this, but I found it so hard to get through the first listen. Every listen after that is amazing though (and I rarely re-listen to books)

A Brief History of Nearly Everything. It should be boring but instead manages to be both funny and engaging on almost every topic you could imagine wanting to learn about.

This is a great idea – appreciate the extra effort it'll take you.

I’m surprised that Elon had the self awareness to recognize that the photos wasn’t flattering

Thanks - always appreciate your insights. As an outsider the game – especially o-line play in the run game – looks so chaotic. It’s interesting to learn just how precise some of it is.

In case you don't know his other stuff, the creator (Steven Conrad) has two (fiction) podcasts that are related to the show, and two other shows that are almost it's equal. The shows are Perpetual Grace, LTD and Ultra City Smiths. And the two podcasts: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

We could/should have won that game, but even so the commanders also made it clear we weren’t going all the way this year. They did an amazing job covering up injuries on the D, but it was too many to beat elite teams. No SB winner has had more than 16 on IR and by the end of the game we had 19 ON D

As a Lions fan I wish he had. This game isn't going his way, but he's a good coach that's going to make the NFC North hard to win for years to come

That would be a good story. Most people dislike insurance companies of all types too much to think about the problems they face, which gives it an interesting angle. And then the ripple effect brings it back to something that will affect all of us. I never would have thought of it

What aspect? That it often doesn't cover catastrophic losses?

So true. I'm furiously breaking down every delivery box that comes in like I'm bailing water on a sinking ship

Zach was surprisingly good. This was one of your stronger podcasts (and I'm going back to the MLive days with Kyle). Keep him on

I appreciate that after all these years I’ll still get ‘loose’ and ‘lose’ wrong every time

You loose a key player like the 'u' for a while and you're going to feed it when you get it back. It's like Hurts targeting Brown in week 5

And the cohosts going from jovial to depressed as they see how easy he's making it look. I don't envy their agents when their next contract comes up.

Just got a chance to read it - it's one of your best. Some good stats (12.5% of the defensive snaps went to guys who'd been on the team less than a week??), backed up by good writing.

AG figures we got a lot of fresh legs out there, might as well use them

If the Lions lose to Minnesota could they lose the #1 seed to them?

I'm with Shaw mainly(entirely) because I can't get onboard with Chalamet. Box office returns imply it's just me, but I don't see any star power when I watch him.

Thanks for posting over here. I was uninterested in consuming news after the election (or loading twitter). Reading this post, I finally felt some interest instead of just repulsion.

Great article! As an old MLive reader I'm glad to see you writing so well MLive misused you. Quick turnaround articles weren't your strength. I wasn't sure you were cut out for the job until they let you do one long form piece (might have been on Matt Patricia's background?) and it was outstanding.

Best video game comp I can come up with for Goff is Link. They look kind of similar, neither says very much, and they both have more entries in a “top 100 games” list than you’d expect

I was going to reply that we’re not playing great today and we’ve got a lot of our starters getting banged up, but then I look at the score and it’s 21-6. Us lions fans have not properly calibrated to this team yet
