Check out these insights into (and the importance of) delivering ubiquitin-independent proteasomal substrates for degradation in the nucleus!

Thrilled to share our collaborative work on the structural basis and myeloma disease link of the midnolin-proteasome pathway with Chris Nardone from the Elledge lab, Jingjing Gao from the Shao lab @sshaolab.bsky.social and all the co-authors who put in the hard work! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Some good news (and fresh science) to break things up! Our work identifying a subpopulation of compositionally unique mitochondria that localize to filopodia and promote cell migration is now @currentbiology.bsky.social! Led by fantastic @madeleinempavey.bsky.social! www.cell.com/current-biol...

Another great day for #relentlessdiscovery & #CancerResearch: 🟠 Sam McBrayer, Ph.D., received $1.19M to study developmental origins of IDH-mutant glioma in adolescents 🟠 Michalis Agathocleous, Ph.D., received $900K to study role of glutathione in leukemia development from CPRIT 🧪 shorturl.at/pgKmG

🚨 New paper alert! 🚨 Check out our latest work on HypoxyStat, a small-molecule therapy that increases oxygen-hemoglobin affinity and provides a practical form of hypoxia therapy. A great collaboration with Maze Therapeutics 🔗 Paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.ce... @cp-cell.bsky.social

1/For over a decade, we’ve been studying tumor metabolism in patients with non-small cell lung cancer This long-term commitment allowed us to connect tumor metabolic features to patient outcomes We found that 13C glucose contribution to the TCA cycle predicts overall survival in NSCLC

Special shout out this AM to NIH 🧪 grant mgmt specialists, POs, and SROs during this chaotic time - THANK YOU for caring for our grants and uploading scores/summary statements despite the unprecedented challenges you may be facing. You are science warriors and we APPRECIATE & SUPPORT YOU 🫶

What an honor to be included in this lineup! Looking forward to speaking at the International Webinars on Cell and Tissue Engineering this spring. Thanks to João Mano for the invitation!

Incredibly proud of @larawahlster.bsky.social from our group, who received the 2025 @[email protected] Pediatric Cancer Research Fellowship!!! Congratulations, Lara!!! www.damonrunyon.org/news/entries...

excited to share a new preprint from our lab! led by the outstanding (& newly minted PhD) @thebiokimist.bsky.social we first uncover a basis for conditional HK2 essentiality in HPLM - leveraging this dependence then leads us to distinct rationale underlying why the Warburg Effect is beneficial!

It's finally out – actually out and in print! Many thanks to @jcornlab.bsky.social @matthiasmuhar.bsky.social @jakobfarnung.bsky.social and all the fantastic collaborators. What started as pure curiosity lead to an amazing find! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I'm co-organizing a Cell Symposia on Metabolites in Organellar Communication with @robzonculab.bsky.social, Kivanc Birsoy, and Allyson Evans (@cp-cellmetabolism.bsky.social). It will be in Sitges May 11-13. Submit an abstract by Feb 14. Hope to see you in Spain! cell-symposia.com/metabolites-...

Tremendous honor to receive this award from @socpedresearch.bsky.social ! The past recipient list is truly amazing with many of my mentors and role models.

Tremendous effort and great native organellar interactome resource from Miguel and co in @harperlabhms.bsky.social : a crosslinking-MS, co-fractionation, and alphaFold interactome on isolated EEA1+ endosomes (+discovery/validation!) | www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS or other (non-LCH) dendritic or histiocytic sarcomas cases.

A post over a decade in the making… 🙌beyond excited to share our work out today in @science.org. We found that retrograde (mitonuclear) signaling regulates the identity and maturity of metabolic tissues.🧵 1/6 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Excited to share our new study on translocation RCC (tRCC) in collaboration with @liron1bar-peled.bsky.social. We reveal how the TFE3 fusion drives a key oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) metabolic program in this rare kidney cancer. trebuchet.public.springernature.app/get_content/... 1/

Congrats, Gerta! Sandwiched between two spectacular scientists, @seanjmorrison.bsky.social & @rjdlab.bsky.social. This photo shows the possibilites with #CRIcollaboration and #relentlessdiscovery. 🧪 Onward! 2025 TAMEST Mary Beth Maddox Award. #TAMEST2025 Read more 👉 cri.utsw.edu/hoxhaj-named...
